Interviews: AVALAND

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Metal Opera band, AVALAND from France. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It is just a combo of “Avalon” and “Land”. This is the land of Avalon! And so, Arthurian Myths inspire me for the story.

2.Why did you want to play this genre? 

I love the big teams and families of Metal Operas you could find in Avantasia and Ayreon. That’s what gives me the inspiration for Avaland.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I knew every musician I choose but they didn’t knew them all at the beginning.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Adrien G. Gzagg: Avantasia / Ayreon

Christophe Feutrier: Inferi / Witherfall

Lucas Martinez: Inferi / Necrophagist

Camille Souffron: Polyphia / Primus

Leo Mouchonay: Helloween / Carach Angren

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Tobias Sammet (Edguy/Avantasia) is my ultimate idol! He and Arjen Lucassen (Ayreon/Star One) are great inspirations for me. Alan Parson is also a great artist I love, and the very first one I was a fan of, listening to “Eye in the Sky” in my Father’s car when I was 3 years old!

6. Where was your last gig?

The last gig I was to (in the audience not on stage) was Nanowar Of Steel in Grenoble. Pretty crazy and fun! 

7. Where would you like to act? 

With Christophe, we have the dream to play once at the Budokan in Tokyo but the road is very long if we want to do that! We’d also like to play in Brazil, metalheads seem crazy over there!

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

I even sing with Zak Stevens (Savatage/TSO), Ralf Scheepers (Primal Fear) and Zaher Zorgati (Myrath) on our debut album, and that’s just f*cking crazy! Of course, sharing a song with Tobias Sammet could be incredible!

9. Whom not? 

Haha I don’t know!

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We didn’t have played in concert yet so, we’ll tell you!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Avantasia and Ayreon of course, but also Alan Parsons Project, Savatage, Gamma Ray, Asia, Pagan’s Mind, Adagio, Myrath, Yes, Winger, and many others.
