Interviews: Eyes Of The Living
This is a new interview with the Thrash Metal band Eyes Of The Living from the USA. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you plan it or came out just like that?
Tim Swisher: Our name took a little bit to agree on, we threw around a bunch of ideas, but decided on "Eyes of the Living" in the end.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Tim Swisher: We are all old-school metalheads with similar music tastes that are rooted in traditional Metal and Thrash Metal like; Black Sabbath, Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth, Testament, OverKill, Celtic Frost, and Mercyful Fate. The band started as a project, and this was my preference of music to write, so this is the direction we went in.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Tim Swisher: Yes actually, we all go back to the local Philadelphia USA music scene of the 90s. Chris Moore and I (Tim Swisher) played in a band named Abolish and Mike Straiton and Cliff Fritts were in the band Pummel. We were prominent local metal bands in the area opening for acts like; Obituary, Pro-Pain, Morbid Angel, Crowbar, and OverKill. A high-lite for Abolish was opening for Fear Factory and Iron Maiden at then Electric Factory in 1997, now renamed Franklin Music Hall...
4. Each band member's favorite band?
Tim Swisher: Currently Gojira, but all-time favorites early Megadeth, Metallica, Mercyful Fate.
Chris Moore: Slipknot, Machine Head, Danko Jones
Mike Straiton: Metallica, Slipknot, Pantera
Cliff Fritts: Black Sabbath - Ozzy days, Overkill, Sepultura.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Tim Swisher: I have always loved writing music, it just flows out of me, it's part of my life and being. I rarely get writer's block too, maybe lyrically but not musically, I am rhythm-driven so many riffs are created based on drum tracks. Lyrically it depends on what I'm feeling, could be based on current events, stories, religion, or fictional things I like to make up.
6. Where was your last gig?
Tim Swisher: Our last gig was our "Fear Comes Knocking" CD Release Party on March 25, 2022, at Broken Goblet Brewing in Bensalem Pa.
7. Where would you like to act?
Tim Swisher: Anywhere we can play, we want everyone to see us! We played two big festivals in 2021; Blue Ridge Rock Festival in Virginia USA and Full Terror Assault in Illinois USA and the experience and response was great! We are hoping Europe is in our future as well.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Tim Swisher: haha any national that is willing to have us open for them! Testament, Megadeth, OverKill, Obituary, Anthrax, Gojira, Slayer when they come back haha!
9. Who not?
Tim Swisher: we will play with anyone!
10. Have Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Tim Swisher: I think all of us feel the jitters when it's a big or important show. When I feel nervous, I envision the audience watching us nude and it works, lol I am joking! I tell myself these people are heard to see what we have to offer, what we are about, so let's show them! Let's just have a good time, like we do at practice, I've done this before. some form of reassurance always helps.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Tim Swisher: for me Metallica, Megadeth, Mercyful Fate, Slayer, Motor Head, especially the older stuff, where they came from, how they did it, how they grind-ed to get where they are, Legends! Modern bands like Mastodon, Gojira, Behemoth, Slipknot are also on my list...
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Tim Swisher: I guess my shirt... after it was all sweaty lol
13. What do you think of your fans?
Tim Swisher: Fans are one if not the most important thing to a band, they connect with us, our sound and what we do. They make our journey worth its while, their interaction is key. We love our fans!
14. What do you think of our site?
Tim Swisher: http://www.breathingthecore.com/ is a great website that brings a variety of bands, their music and the art of their album covers to the attention of music lovers around the world. Readers who may already be fans or potentially future fans!
