Interviews: The Narrator
This is a new interview with the Melodic Hardcore/Hardcore band The Narrator from Germany. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, plan it or come out just like that?
It just turned out, that while writing and rehearsing the first songs. It just fits the lyrics and the stories we like to tell.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
We’ve been to shows and made music in this genre for half our lives now and for us, it’s the perfect music to express ourselves and channel our emotions.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yeah, we know each other for so many years. We performed a lot in different projects in the local scene before and this band came out of a deep relationship between us five.
4. Each band member's favorite band?
We have a big variety of music we listen to. It depends a lot on the emotions and situations we connect to music and bands. It’s very hard to break it down to a single band for every one of us.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Inspiration hits us anytime and anywhere. Whether it’s a personal or social issue we are dealing with. Everything that surrounds us can be a source of inspiration.
6. Where was your last gig?
We are currently on tour with Our Mirage. The last gig we performed changes almost every day at the moment. Wild times for us and we love it.
7. Where would you like to act?
Every big festival in Germany would be a dream coming true right now. No specific one is on the bucket list. We love to perform in a small club. But one of the huge festivals would be hitting differently.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Every feature is a big input to our creativity. We love to have special guests. Whether it’s a close friend or someone with a huge fanbase. Every feature is a big deal for us.
9. Whom not?
Everyone who is racist, sexist, homophobe, etc. We don’t want to have a single thing in common with this kind of people.
10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
We all have a very nervous time before stage time. It’s just a normal thing and it’s pushing you to give all you got. The best tip is to love what you do. The crowd will feel it and give you the best time of your life. Once the set has started it’s all gone.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
There are so many influences on our music. Hard to put somebody somewhere, but bands like While She Sleeps or Bring Me The Horizon does have an impact on our songwriting.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
There’s been no weird thing yet. Only love comes from our fans. We are very grateful to get this response from every one of the fans.
13. What do you think of your fans?
They are the reason we are doing this. If our music helps someone who is going through a dark time in their life, we are happy. The energy we feel from the crowd every time we get on stage is just amazing. We love you and you mean the world to us.
14. What do you think of our site?
You are doing a great job. Giving bands like us a platform, sharing so much of small bands, and keeping everyone up to date is a great thing. Thank you for all your effort.
