Interviews: ALPHOENIX

On this new occasion, we have had the opportunity to interview the Melodic Death Metal band, ALPHOENIX from Japan. Check out the interview and follow the band on their FACEBOOK PAGE. 

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It is a combination of Alpha and Phoenix. It also means from α through Ω to end in x.

2. Why did you want to play this genre? 

When I was a high school student, I listened to IN FLAMES and ARCH ENEMY albums every day. Then we started to want to play them ourselves.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Thor, the lead vocalist, and I have been playing in a band together since high school. We have welcomed members we have met in our subsequent activities to Alphoenix.

4. Each band member's favorite band?

In Flames / Dark Tranquillity / Killswitch Engage (Me and Thor) Unearth / Amon Amarth (Yuki) This Or The Apocalypse / Treat / Winger (Bitoku) Angra / Dream Theater (Shohei)

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Great musicians, Innovations of music equipment and good location.

6. Where was your last gig?

We played in the city of Nakano, Tokyo in October 2019. We have not played for 3 years since then due to covid-19.

7. Where would you like to act?

Everywhere with good people.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Mikael Stanne (Dark Tranquillity/The Halo Effect)

9. Whom not?

Maybe we don't need an opera singer.

10. Have any of you ever suffered from stage fright? Any tips for beginners on how to beat that?

Fortunately, we have never had stage fright. Shohei once lost his ability to play the drums due to dystonia but overcame it by acquiring a different playing style. 

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

When Thor and I were in high school, we were greatly influenced by Metallica and Slipknot. Because they were performing heavy metal on a very huge scale.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

When I was touring with my old band, I was asked during a performance, "Please give me the shirt you are wearing right now.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Silent, thoughtful, and prefers music to entertainment.

14. What do you think of our site?

Very nice. I also like a logo that looks like death metal.

15. Something to add?

Please listen to our new album "Evil Ways", our first album in 5 years. This is a pure metal album made in Japan and finished in Sweden.
