Texas Local News - Interview
Hey Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Metal/Hardcore/Pop band Texas Local News from Germany, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, enjoy this excellent interview of this more excellent band.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
More likely, it’s been a coincidence. Actually, we just wanted to search for some funny videos on the internet. Do you know rednecks? Those funny dudes from the southern US-States? Lots of clichees, but quite funny to watch from time to time.
Anyways, the buzzwords we used didn’t reveal any funny stuff – but, as we kept looking on the screen, we saw the name of our band. These buzzwords were, in fact, “Texas Local News”
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Well, we didn't intend on playing this specific genre, it just happened. Since we all grew up listening to different styles of music, no one in this band has the same musical-background. The style of our music is the intersection of all these different styles.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Jep! Some of us were friends a long time before we even thought about forming a band.
Everyone used to have his own bands/projects over the years, until we finally found together in 2011.
I guess that it’s been quite an advantage back then, that we could just skip this “Getting-known-of-each-other”-stage, which most bands have to deal with in the beginning.
Instead, we could start writing songs and playing the first gigs right off the point.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Jan – August Burns Red
Moritz – Tesseract
Timo – Deaf Havanna
Carla – Paramore
Fabian – Led Zeppelin
Uwe – Across Five Aprils
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Some ideas just come up offhandedly, some may be caused by recent events or experiences.
Starting with an idea, usually a riff, everyone adds his own ideas, what in the end - hopefully - leads to a proper song.
6. Where was your last gig?
Jazzkeller Hofheim (Frankfurt area)
7. Where would you like to act?
Since being on the road is one of the best things we can imagine, it’s not that important for us which location we’re playing at. As long as one person had fun at our show, it’s been worth.
But for sure, a large tour or some gigs in other countries would be quite awesome.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Hit us with this one when we’re ready to record our album in a few moths ;-)
9. Whom not?
Haha, I can imagine tons of other things you could spend your time on more usefully than thinking of people you don’t want to wo work with :D
No, seriously: We’ve got some rough ideas about featuring, but listing everyone we couldn’t think of working with would just go beyond the scope.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
For sure! It’s pretty normal to be a bit nervous before getting on stage. Expecially if you lack some routine. Even if you’re playing 30 to 50 shows a year there might be a special or very important gig from time to time which let’s you almost (pardon) piss your pants.
Most important then is to be self confident and staying focused. That for, you should know your set and every single stroke you have to play.Being insecure leads to mistakes and that’s the last thing you want.
If one of your bandmates failed a song or even the set – don’t blame him. Help him getting better, practise even more and working on the weak spots.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
If we're supposed to answer this question as a group that could be Deaf Havana, Paramore and our favourite bands. But it’s not that easy to generalise, since everyone of us brings in his own style, ideas and influences.
In the end, the output is the most important thing
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Not quite fans, but sometimes some guys don’t get that we’re a band, but consider us to be a news channel and ask whether we could post some American patriotism stuff :D
13. What do you think of your fans?
We appreciate everyone who likes and supports handmade music, especially when the person doesn’t even know us by person. Sure, we’re no rockstars, but noticing that our music is reaching people from all over the globe or guys hitting us up on Facebook is just awesome.
Getting that kind of feedback just pays off the hard work and the time we’ve spent in the rehearsal room.
14. What do you think of our site?
It’s a great opportunity to find some good bands you’ve propably never stumbled upon elsewhere.
Thanks for that!
15. Something to add?
Thanks for your work! We’ll continue ours and hope to improve as much as possible.
Currently, we’re writing new stuff for our upcoming debut-album, which is planned to be recordedin Autumn.
Everyone is invited to write us on Facebook, we’re free for a small chat at any time
Cheers,
Timo, Carla, Jan, Momo, Uwe & Fabi
