Claim Your Kingdom - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Metalcore/Post-Hardcore band Claim Your Kingdom from USA, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, enjoy this excellent interview of this more excellent band.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
We've gone under three band names. The first one being May Seasons Cease, until we felt that was confusing. We went to Inheritor until a Columbian melodic death metal band found that we were somehow a threat and shut us down from copyrights. After that, we searched for a long time to find a new name until finding one in Letter to the Exiles' (Rest in peace) song "Retribution," with the line "Hold on to hope. Stand up and claim your kingdom." That was the only name we all agreed on.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
This seems like a bad answer, but it isn't. It was popular. Because of its popularity we all listened to it and the energy we found in these bands made us want to produce this energy ourselves.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Everyone knew at least one of the members when we first formed. As time has progressed, we've all become great friends. We've changed our lineup multiple times, but as of right now, we've had the same lineup for over a year.
4. Each band members favorite band?
Cliff (Rhythm guitar/clean vocals) - August Burns Red.
Chris (Drums) - The Wonder Years.
Noah (Bass) - My Heart to Fear.
Ian (Lead Guitar) - Avenged Sevenfold.
Marty (Harsh vocals) - Texas in July.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
We simply write about our emotions. We all feel them, and if they're strong enough, we write about them because they translate so easily to lyric form.
6. Where was your last gig?
Fubar in St. Louis, Missouri, opening for Silence the Messenger and Years Since the Storm.
7.Where do you like to act?
As long as we're playing in front of people, we'll play anywhere!
8.Whom would you like to feature with?
Any band who has their heart in the right place when playing music. Even if the music itself doesn't sound good, if they have the passion intact, we'll be down to play with them.
9.Whom not?
Anybody who takes their fans for granted or only plays music for the money/fame. We'd like to think that this scene is only comprised of people doing what they love, but, sadly, that can't always be the case.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
We've all suffered from stage fright. Playing on stage is scary, especially when you're playing original music. The only sure fire way to beat it is to play shows. The more you play in front of people, the easier it gets. We wish there was an easier way, but there truly isn't.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
We all have our own inspirations ranging from Bruno Mars and Sleeping With Sirens to Underoath and Slipknot, even out to Reel Big Fish and Avenged Sevenfold, but the biggest influences on us are undoubtedly Texas in July and August Burns Red.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
We have autographed a pizza box and a shoulder.
13. What do you think of your fans?
While we don't have a huge fan base, we love them all. We're always looking to expand it as well ;)
14. What do you think of our site?
We love this site with all the things it does for local bands. Just for reaching out to you we've gotten to fill out our first interview. We're extremely thankful for people like you who give us this opportunity.
