Heartened - Interview
Hey Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Melodic Hardcore band Heartened from Australia, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, enjoy this excellent interview of this more excellent band and below the interview you have their biography.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Matt: I came up with the name before me and the boys formed the band, as I felt an uplifting name was appropriate for the genre I wanted the band to be moving towards.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Stephen: We didn't really chose a genre. We basically all had a love for melodic hardcore, however Sydney is home to some of the best melodic bands in the world, so we wanted to get inspiration from them as well as having heavy parts in our songs to jump around to and get the crowd involved in. The fusion between the two was something we really loved and something we want to keep getting tighter at.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Stephen: I was really wanting to do guest vocals on a song of Matt's as he had written North Creek at the time with Ben, Matt eventually made my dreams come true by asking me to front the band. Ben the brought LJ and Bushy along to practise. We instantly clicked and Matt's little project turned into Heartened. I had know the boys by name before but never expected to be as close with them as we have become. They're my best friends.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Stephen: Alexisonfire, Break Even and Bring Me. Totally different genres however bands I adore and will never stop listening to. Endless Heights and Hand Of Mercy are there for me too
Matt: Being As An Ocean, Hundredth and More Than Life to name a few, and locally, Perspectives, Vices and Hourglass.
Ben: Break Even, Miles Away, Being As An Ocean, The Story So Far and Defeater.
Blake: Shinto Katana, Chelsea Grin and Whitechapel.
Liam: Devil Wears Prada.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Stephen: life events, things that keep me up at night- things we have all experienced.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last show was at our local venue a couple of nights ago, supporting our friends in Justice For The Damned for a single launch from their upcoming EP.
7. Where would you like to act?
Touring is a goal which we aim to achieve by the end of the year, even if it is only a run of a few shows.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
We haven't really thought about featuring with a band as of yet, but doing a split with an overseas band would be an amazing experience.
9. Whom not?
Featuring with any band would be a privilege!
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Stephen: I shit myself every time I see the crowd- no tips for beginners as we are all major beginners ourselves.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Stephen: Definitely Endless Heights for me, as well as Saviour believe it or not, the cross vocals of yelling then heavy is something I would love to get better at.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
As we're a pretty small band, not much weird stuff has happened regarding fans, although it is always a shock when people we don't even know approach us and tell us how much they dig our music. It's pretty surreal.
13. What do you think of your fans?
A lot of our friends have supported us from the beginning, which we appreciate a great amount. We are slowly building a fan base outside friendship groups, which is an amazing feeling. We appreciate anyone, friend or not, who listens to our music.
14. What do you think of our site?
We think it's really cool that your site is giving bands, both small and large to gain additional exposure. Keep it up!
15. Something to add?
