No Need To Stay - Interview
Hey Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Post-Hardcore band No Need To Stay from Germany, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, enjoy this excellent interview of this more excellent band.
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
When I was in middle school and dreaming of starting a band, I had already made up my mind about how it's supposed to be called, sound and look. The sound and look thing of course didn't push through, but the name No Need To Stay just emerged in my head someday during one of my daily philosophical teenager thinking processes and was the one that established itself when we've actually got together years later. There are just a lot of situations in life you shouldn't or mustn't stay in, so you gotta escape and move on to somewhere better – in the physical AND metaphorical sense.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
This genre is just so diverse in the feelings that its music can carry over to the listener. Sometimes there's just pure aggressiveness and groove in the breakdowns with demonic screams, then it's the melodic or catchy clean vocals that gives you goosebumps; sometimes you'll hear an EDM-like dubstep or dance part that makes you bounce, an epic orchestra playing over awesome riffs or a groovy RnB beat with hip hop-ish vocals. I feel this genre takes everything good out of all music genres and puts it into one, which is exactly what we want to do in our songs.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
No, we more or less became best friends through the time spent together because of the band, but we couldn't wish for more. Our bond grew really strong because of that.
4. Each band member favourite band?
No Need To Stay! Haha, just kidding:
Asuka: ISSUES
Stefan: Memphis May Fire
Robin: Memphis May Fire
Lukas: The Color Morale
Kiwi: Necrophagist
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Speaking as the lyric writer, I write about everything that gets strong emotions out of me. May it be a close relationship to someone or something, a certain situation in life, even movies or games! Personally, I'm a big fan of anime, which is why our song “The Chosen One” is about an anime called Death Note. But there's also time when my bandmates come up to me and tell me about things in their lives which I then transform into songs. Our songs are an emotional outlet for us all.
6. Where was your last gig?
We've played a battle of the bands in Erfurt, Germany. We were very well received by the judges, thus having advanced into the next round.
7. Where would you like to act?
Playing Vans Warped Tour would be so sick! But we also want to rock all the big festivals in this world.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Collaborating with one of the bands we've listened to as a kid would be a dream come true, like Linkin Park.
9. Whom not?
We don't hate anyone.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Of course! We were all shivering the most when we were playing our first show, and the first time when we had played in front of like over 1.000 people in Zwickau, Germany. But the more you play live, the less frightening it gets. Not because it's less exciting, but it's like practice, you get better every time. You don't need to be afraid, just remember that the all the people in the crowd have come for you and your music! Just have a good time, do what you love and the people in the crowd will be with you. :)
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
I'd say Memphis May Fire, Asking Alexandria, ISSUES, I See Stars and Linkin Park.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Not too weird or creepy, but there are times when girls just straight out ask you if you want to come with them or visit them after exchanging like 3 sentences even though they know you have a girlfriend. Even you aren't taken, you don't want to join the STD party and catch anything. And one time someone wanted to buy merch, but had no money with them so they offered us drugs in exchange. It's those weird offers we'd rather not go along with.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Our fans are really loyal and supportive, something we're deeply grateful for. We like to keep a personal connection to our fans which kind of creates a big friendship between the five of us and them. A band would be nothing without the people who support them, and we wish to make them happy and make more friends in the process. There are guys and girls who have been with us from the beginning and still coming to our shows. We love all of our fans!
14. What do you think of our site?
I think it's awesome that people like you support the scene and help it growing, also giving new bands a chance to presen themselves. Keep it up!
15. Something to add?
