Cabaret Runaway - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Post-Hardcore band Cabaret Runaway from USA, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, enjoy this excellent interview of this more excellent.
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
As cliche’ as it sounds our band name actually came from the musical “Cabaret”. I had just seen a production of it at my university and I happened to think the idea of a (runaway stripper of sorts) was slightly bad-ass. We just thought the imagery associated with the name fit our style of music whilst it’s incredibly fun to say phonetically because it even rhymes.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
I don’t actually know what genre we would seriously consider ourselves! We wanted to create something different and I think that’s been the greatest musical success we’ve had. Our genre/style seems to be very hard to describe for people even ourselves! The music is just who we are.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes and no. Kyle, Colin, and I had been pretty good friends at school since we were about eighteen. Mikey and I were actually in another band at the time however and we both got kicked out of it. We all met Brandon over Facebook from a “looking for drummer post” as the guy who came and played our song perfect first try!
4. Each band member favourite band?
Kyle fangirls over Between The Buried and Me, Colin fangirls over Protest The Hero, Mikey’s into Rancid way too much, Brandon is pretty in love with Incubus, and I have an unhealthy obsession with Envy On The Coast.
5.Who or what inspires you to write your songs?
Inspiration is unpredictable for us. It’d be hard to say what that exact variable is. Lyrically, I’m generally inspired when I’m on the correct medication!
6.Where was your last gig?
Our last show was at a venue called Stage AE in Pittsburgh. I think we had somewhere around 75-80 presages ahead of time. It was suppose to be a local showcase of the fast growing Pittsburgh bands! It was called “The Rising”. I got my head lacerated by a bass in the show and didn’t realize until the next day!
7. Where would you like to act?
We are actually on the verge of beginning our touring lives so it’s hard to state exactly where we always wanted to play! A European tour would probably be a dream come true for the entirety of us however!
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
We all have such a variety of tastes in our favorite styles of music but we basically would love to feature with bands that have fan-bases in which we believe would love our music! Someone like Pierce The Veil, The Used, My Chemical Romance (If they were still together), or Bayside or something!
9. Whom not?
Generally we try to not feature with bands that wear obscene amounts of make-up… Except for Mikey. He’s into bands with obscene amounts of make-up.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Brandon and I probably have the most intense stage-fright/pre-show rituals. Brandon just disappears about an hour before we perform and shows up fives minutes prior. I generally get wicked shivers without being cold at all. Generally I have such an incredible amount of anxiety before I play big shows that I go through mental stages before I get amped up. Once the music hits we all lose ourselves in our performance and the stage-fright is gone. As it should be!
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
We got the most amount of inspiration from the bands we play with! It’s the competitive nature of our city’s music scene that really gave us the drive to push ourselves out!
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
I seem to repetitively get requests from guys to sign their nipples… It seems like an odd trend right? I found the perfect response for it however! “I’ll sign your dick if you give me a fucking sharpie!”
13. What do you think of your fans?
We’re already at the point in which we can state that our music wouldn’t exist without our fans. We crowd-funded Humanity’s Insanities through our fans/friends which was awesome to accomplish! We always try and give back to our fans/friends that come to our shows and truly support us. We even tell our merch guy that if someone really wants an album and doesn’t have the money to just give it to them, and we try and spend as much time as possible hanging out with our fans/friends at our shows instead of just each other!
14. What do you think of our site?
Breathing The Core is rad. A good friend of mine was always acting like I was retarded for not knowing the newer bands on the site.
15. Something to add?
We released our first music video yesterday through BlankTV which we’re pretty psyched about. It’s for a new song of ours called Withered Below which is definitely one of the craziest songs on our new album! This year we’re going to start touring full-time and getting our music out to people all over the country. We’ve never been more excited!
