Heart Like Mountains - Interview

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?  

We were "Mountains" before, then we heard that one band has already that name so we changed to "Heart Like Mountains”. It means a heavy heart,because every song that our vocalist wrote were about sadness,depression ecc - Icko

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

The most important things in music are emotions, catchy melodies and bombastic harmonic changes for me. In connection with a lot of energy, it’s perfect! -> Melodic Hardcore - Jonas

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?  

The band was started by our vocalist and pianist, exactly when our pianist who lives in germany send a track to our vocalist who lives in Rome . Then after months we decided to pick up guitarists,bassist and lastly the drummer. Yes, we knew all each before the band was formed - Icko

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

I think everything around me inspires my music. Feelings I get after a talk with an old friend, emotions while I watch the sunset, or just a rainy day. The only thing I try, is not to be inspired by other bands. I noticed that I’m adopting melodies of songs very quick and without any will. After a songwriting session I hear the song and try to recognize other songs in it. Then I change or delete the song.It’s very hard when you delete a hole song after a writing process of a lot of hours.  - Jonas

We still haven't played live but this september something big will happen!  - Icko

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I played many lives with my old bands (Watching A Burning Sky,Earthquake) Just play your music,enjoy the music you play, MOVE ON STAGE and don't give a f*ck what people says. - Icko

11. What bands have inspired you the most?  

A band from the UK called "Conceptions" - Icko  Ambient and post-rock bands inspired me a lot. I’m up to catch such emotions in my songs. But I didn’t want to name some bands, because I feel inspiered by the whole genre. Unwitting, I think I am inspiered by my favourite bands like BAAO, Elephantis or Light Your Anchor, too.  - Jonas

12.What’s the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Some weeks ago, a fan asked me for the notes of my song Hope, because he/she will get an ink with it. I think this is not really weird in general. But for me it’s just incredible that people like my songs so much that they want the notes on their skin. Just an amazing feeling! - Jonas

13. What do you think of your fans?  

Fans are all. They’re all that motivate us to keep going and their support make us stronger. Without them the band will never grow up. We wanna say thanks every single person who follow and support us since January. We love you! - Dan
