Arizona - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Post-Hardcore band Arizona from UK, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
We actually got the idea from a tattoo that my friend has on his wrist. His name is Jonny Black, he's a tattooist from around our area, he has done a tonne of stuff on myself and other members of the band. It was something that we had seen on him and it seemed really cool at the time and kinda just stuck!
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
I think from a really young age we were all into rock and old school metal, our drummer George first went to Download festival when he was like 11 or something stupid, so metal is pretty much in his blood! We knew that we could do what we're doing now and that we all wanted to, but we wanted to do it differently, so that’s what we’re working at.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
George our drummer, knew Jordan our bassist through a friend, and I think Jordan knew our guitarist Ben, through another friend, and then Brad our other guitarist new Jordan because of some other guy and I basically knew no one haha
4. Each band member favourite band?
Jacob: My favourite band is Fleetwood Mac. You have to appreciate the classics!
Ben: Architects and BMTH. Brad: It has to be U2, they're pretty ace.
Jordan: Periphery are insane so it's definitely them.
George: August Burns Red because Matt Greiner is an absolute demon!
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
I think a bit of everything inspires us. We are very lucky to have an awesome practise space in the country side of Suffolk, so when the weather is nice we tend to crack a BBQ out and open a few beers, and sometimes that's really awesome because we can really get into it, but sometimes we lose track of the fact that were supposed to be practising and not just eating chicken and drinking beer.
6. Where was your last gig?
The last show we played was in Swansea about 2 months ago. We're not playing quite as much at the moment on the run up to releasing the EP, but we're hoping to book a couple more tours soon as we're all pretty eager to play again.
7. Where would you like to act?
(I don't understand the question I'm sorry!)
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
I think we would all be pretty happy if we could feature with a band like BMTH or Architects or TDWP. They have all smashed it for years and its something we hope one day to be able to achieve.
9. Whom not?
We’re not really into bashing other bands, but, Falling In Reverse are just, you know, not that great?
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
I used to get mega nervous before I would do any kind of public speaking or performance and it was pretty crippling! I think I got over it by just doing it more and more. You have to appreciate that if you’re doing a performance in front of people, they are there to see you, so they aren’t judging you, because more often than not they have paid money to see you, would be pretty lame if they paid money to just bash you.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
As a band we are all into a really diverse range of music. When we write we tend to chuck in a lot of elements from the stuff we all listen to on a daily basis. I know that George our drummer is obsessed with Matt Greiner from August Burns Red, so he is ALWAYS trying to drop in cheeky little fills. Brad our guitarist is into bands like Sikth and TesseracT, so he’s always smashing out riffs with insane groove.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
I think a fan once asked Jordan to sign her breast, it’s not exactly that weird but I don’t think I could do it haha I’m sure Jordan relished in the opportunity though.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Anyone who takes the time to listen to us, follow us on social media, come to our shows, buy our merch or music, or just tell us that they dig what we do, is everything that keeps us going.
14. What do you think of our site?
You guys have an awesome site! We’re very humbled you would want to interview us.
15. Something to add?
Brad: “I really do love U2.”
