Built From Ruin - Interview

Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Djent/Hardcore band Built From Ruin from USA, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Our band name came together completely out of nowhere, we all came together from failing bands and wanted something we could build from the ground up. so the name Built From Ruin, sort of just came out of nowhere at band practice one day.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We are all huge metal fans and grew up listening to various styles of rock, this genre just happened to appeal to us more and we enjoy the energy and the following that comes with playing metalcore.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Me (Matt), Jesse and Casey all went to high school together. we met our drummer through a now defunct local band called Illusionist. Matt and Jesse had been a part of other projects together. this is just the one that stuck with us all  I'll answer.

4. Each band member favorite band?

Matt: Underoath.

Jesse: The Breather.

Casey: Killswitch Engage

Brent: Monuments.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Everyday life is what inspires us to make the music we make. struggle, hardship, friendship, love, hate, it all plays a factor in how we write. we always try to be as real with ourselves as we can be, so our fans and followers feel that we are being real with them. the main inspiration behind our music and lyrics is being real with yourself in life.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was a local gig at our local venue, we haven't been playing shows lately due to the recording of our full length album and Matt and Jesse running their recording studio. as soon as this album drops we will be back on the stage in no time!

7. Where would you like to act?

Anywhere outside of the united states. there's so much to see in this world and a lot of us don't get the opportunity to see it all.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We would love to feature with bands such as I, The Breather, Architects, Volumes, Northlane, InHeartsWake and many more. anyone that shares the same message as we do.

9. Whom not?

I don't know if there is anyone we wouldn't work with. the way we see it, music is a universal love, and anyone that writes a song or write lyrics shares that universal love. its about expanding and creating, so if anyone is willing to try then so are we.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

We've all had our first gig. it is the most terrifying feeling ever. but its all about swallowing that lump in your throat and doing what you love to do. my main advice is don't try, just do. You'll feel much better after overcoming stage fright.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Bands from the 70's to the present day. I still find bands everyday that inspire me and I can say the same for the guys. seeing what all these great artists have accomplished is amazing to see and its great inspiration.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

I was asked by a fan one time to sign her big toe, she said she never was gonna wash her feet again. remember to wash your feet before asking us to sign them

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are our family. we love interacting and meeting new people. as cliché as it sounds. we feel like some bands today take advantage of the thought of having a fan base. we just make the music you love and listen to, and are here to help our fans through the same everyday things we as a band go through. we encourage anyone who hasn't talked to us or hasn't went to our pages to do so and send us a message we would love to talk to more people. all in all our family of fans is the most important people we have.

14. What do you think of our site?

I am an regular to the site, I come here to find a lot of the music I listen too. its great someone is actually advocating unsigned talent. its a huge help to us and others worldwide and we thank you for that!

15. Something to add?

To anyone willing to read this far, go to our bandcamp and take a dollar or two to help us be where we want to be, we will continue to put out music and play shows. but any little chunk of change helps. it is available for free download also. spread the word and keep you ears peeled. you will know who we are before too long and we will not stop until you do. we want our voices to be heard and we aren't afraid to climb the mountain to the top.
