Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Deathcore/Metalcore band Departure from USA, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

KG: Well at first we were called "Breaking The Sired Bond" but we had this one kid join the band and he said we should change the name to something more catchier and shorter. We all  came up with several names but ended up sticking with "Departure".

GM: At first the band was called "Breaking the sired bond" but after a line up change and Us slowly evolving into what is now Departure we took up the name and thought it suited us.

EM: That's all kevin and gabe. I don't know how the band name came to be.

TF: Ive only been a member for a couple of months im not sure how the name came to be.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

KG: Me personally, ive played spanish Gospel for about 8 years. Ive always listened to metal and when i lost my faith i decided to start this band. I love the fact that i can play better more sophisticated drumming in this band then i did in church, and in a way Departure fits me because i departed from my ways of ignorance.I wanted to play this type of genre just because it looked fun, it had an amazing crowd response and people love it!

GM: Coming into the band i honestly didn't know what genre we would be playing to be honest but i know i wanted to be heavy and i wanted to create some amazing breakdowns and solid lead guitar work.

EM: I've been a fan of metalcore since i was 14 and it's the only music that honestly stuck with me. Gave my anger a place to express itself.

TF: Personall, i believe Deathcore at its core (no pun intended) is some of the most brutal music out there. In this age we live in, people only pay attention to the loudest voice out there. This genre allows  for brutal lyrics that have meaning. When i write lyrics, i dont talk about killing people just to kill them, there is purpose behind it, murder based on their actions rather then just to inspire fear. Through  violence comes change. If enough people listen and read your lyrics then eventually some change will happen in the world, even if its isolated to your scene, change is still change.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

KG: Ive known Gabe for about two years and met him through a friend, and also his old band, Then Manny i have known for about a year, seeming as he auditioned for my old band, and then auditioned for this band, then Ty i met at a Vanna concert and we moshed together haha.

GM: I knew Kevin prior to the band cause i had been in another band a few years back and he had saw us at a show and saw i had potential and than eventually he had been saving up for his set and everything beginning  to work on an idea to just a dream we had and it began to take off it's honestly crazy i was just stoked to be apart of something with other talented musicians

EM: I knew kevin before but not that well only because i tried to join a band he was in before he and gabe formed departure. But that was while i was in school in Maine so nothing really came of it.

TF: The only member i knew before i joined was Kevin. I met him at a couple local shows before. When they needed a place to practice , i volunteered to help them out and they practiced in my barn. Thats how i met Manny and Gabe.

4. Each band member favourite band?

KG: I Personally go through phases of bands that i like but as of now my favorite bands are I Declare War, Thy Art Is Murder, Whitechapel, and Texas In JUly.

GM: I have to say at the moment my favorite band is ERRA i love the guitar work and solid vocals they lay down i love em can't remember they're names by heart but i know they're some really talented individuals.

EM: As I Lay Dying, Memphis May Fire, Whitechapel, Sever The King, Miss May I, Fit For A King, The Devil Wears Prada, Within The Ruins, and The Acacia Strain

TF: My favorite band has always been Suicide Silence. Mitch Inspired me when i was younger to follow my passion for music and become good at an instrument. So one day in my shower i just started screwing around  with different noises and sounds i could make. I sucked at first ( some may argue that i still do) bit i pressed on and i got something out of it.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

KG: Listening to music inspires me to write the drum tracks to our songs and honestly i take alot of things from bands like Feign, Black Tongue, Texas In July, Breakdown Of Sanity.

GM: Self expression plays a big part into my playing and the overall feeling of making progress, memories and music all at the same time come on how can i not be inspired also we have our own form of speaking out and saying  what we feel on our songs and displaying. Hardcore emotions into our music! And all our friends and family and fans who have supported us and made us feel happy about what we do and appreciate our music it honestly makes it worthwhile and means the world to us!

EM: I honestly don't know I usually just sit and watch tv and play my guitar when something sounds good i work from that.

TF: My main inspiration for writing is the planet we live on. It's gone to shit, that's apparent on every news broadcast. I like speaking on issues that we face everyday. Like religion and the discrimination that comes along with those beliefs. Like I believe  everyone is equal, regardless of choices you've made.

6. Where was your last gig?

KG: Near our hometown, Holyoke, Ma at The Waterfront Tavern.

GM: Our last gig was at The Waterfront in Holyoke MA we had a pretty awesome set and the bands we played with were awesome!

EM: Our last show was at the Waterfront in Holyoke, MA on September 13th we played the 10th anniversary of It Dies Today's album Caitiff Choir with a good group of local bands.

TF: Our last gig was It Dies Today's 10th anniversary show. That was a blast to play, we played before the opening act. That's the farthest we've ever been on the bill.

7. Where would you like to act?

KG: My goal right now is to preform Main Stage at the Palladium here in Worcester, Ma.

GM: I'd like to someday perform on big stages with sick headlining bands and being able to tour with my bestfriends and do what we love constantly it would be a dream come true

EM: Anywhere as long as we get to play our music and express ourselves in front of people who share the same passion for me music that we have.

TF: In a perfect world I would love to play on a main stage at any European festival.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

KG: Id love to play a show where the acts go as such: Whitechapel, Thy Art Is Murder, Breakdown of sanity, Feign and Black Tongue.

GM: It's hard to imagine ever happening but probably Vincent Bennet of The Acacia Strain or CJ from Thy art is murder holy shit that track would kill with either of those guys!

EM: I'd love to play with Whitechapel, The Acacia Strain, Within The Ruins, and Fit For A King that would be sick.

TF: I would love to collaborate with some black metal band at some point. I forgot to mention earlier that black metal is one of my second favorite music genres. Like if Nergal  was featured on one of our tracks, I would be able to die happily.

9. Whom not?

KG: I never in a million years want to play with Blood On The Dancefloor, Pierce The Veil or Sleeping With Sirens.

GM: I know i definitely wouldn't want Davhie vanity to feature lol.

EM: Honestly we can't exclude any bands cause a gig is a gig man. But if i had to choose it would be Pierce The Veil and Sleeping With Sirens

TF: For the sake of not starting any arguments, I'm gonna refrain from answering this. I will say this though, Hardcore kids are pussies.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

KG: Playing at church for 8 years i wasnt as nervous as you would think, yes it was a different crowd and thats what freaked me out. The way i got through it was just having my friends there to cheer me on and hug me and tell me i was going to do great, plus i had my awesome band mates that also told me that it was going to be fine. Just remember that people are there for one thing, and thats to have fun, so be one of them and have fun yourself.

GM: I think we all had our fair share of stage fright and its honestly scary at first and you feel like everyones either going to judge you or laugh at you or think you suck  but you go up there anyways and think about why your up there in the first place and its cause you love to do it and if you love to do it dont be afraid to express how you feel or jam to  it and go hard make people think your crazy on stage just release your inner passion and act like no ones watching i now really like knowing people are watching and listening and seeing us  perform its just a great feeling i wouldn't trade it for anything just be free and go hard.

EM: I did at first but then the guys talked me down and got me excited to play the show. My advice would be power through it and if you're nervous understand that so are your bandmates so get  up there and kill it cause you have it in you to show everyone that your passion.

TF: Initially when I played my first show, I was terrified. But once you get into the swing of things you'll be fine. If you're a newer band, don't freak out about messing up, the crowed is not  going to know the difference. By the time you get noticed in the scene you'll know your songs. So that problem will go away.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

KG: Bands like Texas In JUly and This or the apocalypse, because theyre so good, so talented and selfmade.

GM: I'd have to say Fit for a king, Miss may i, In hearts wakes, Northlane, ERRA, Thy art is murder, Slaves, holy shit i can just o on and on trust me! These are my huge inspirations though.

EM: I would say As I Lay Dying they really got me into the whole metal/hardcore scene those guys knew how to make a good metal record.

TF: Suicide silence hands down has inspired me the most. But to add to a previous question, I will say that Behemoth has also greatly inspired me. Nergal is such a badass, he beat leukemia,  released a hugly successful album and still chases his dreams. On top of that, he had pissed a huge group of Christians and is targeted for that, but he doesn't give a fuck.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

KG: Were not that big of a band yet, haha, we really havent gotten anything weird from anyone.

GM: Um i don't think anyones really asked me anything really weird just yet haha

EM: I've never had an experience with any crazy fan request we're a small local band right now.

TF: I haven't really had any weird experiences yet. Other that this one kid named Casey who thinks I'm awesome. I suck, I'm a jackass but this kid idolizes me. That means something to me.

13. What do you think of your fans?

KG: We love our fans honestly to see that our music has reached Russia, Australia, Columbia, Brazil, and Portugal means so much. Fans of ours have even designed stuff for us, even sent us page long letters thanking us for being a band. I cant wait to see whats in store from future fans!

GM: I honestly love and appreciate every single one of them and without fans we are nothing but a band of friends all the support we get from friends, family, fans around the world it means  absolutely a lot to us it's great knowing people like our music and take time out of they're lives to jam us it makes me happy to do what i do.

EM: They are our lifeblood as a band we need them to keep doing what we love, if we didn't have them playing would be very hard to do.

TF: I love our fans. Recently this kid from Brazil contacted us. In broken English he wrote out that he loved us, and he really wants some merch from us and a cd. That hit me hard, like there's  some one from another country who heard about our band from a shitty town in western Massachusetts. That amazed me. He's gonna get merch one day, and it's gonna be on me.

14. What do you think of our site?

KG: I Googled my band and found your site, honestly that means the world that the first 4 results your were number four. I clicked on it and it took me to this well made, organized site with east access to everything and i love that your promoting us!

GM: I think you guys are great for featuring us and having us up on your site! Thanks so much

EM: You guys are awesome it really means the world to us having you guys take time out of your day to promote our music we fucking love you guys!

TF: You interview us, so in my book you guys are the best thing since abortions.

15. Something to add?

KG: Just keep in touch with us because big things will be coming from Departure in the next year or so!

GM: Live life and always be you no matter what anyone says don't let people talk you down and make you feel like you can't accomplish things cause  you can if you put your mind and your heart to it!

EM: Just check us out on facebook, instagram, twitter, and band camp. We're in the process of writing an altogether new record so keep on the look out for updates on that. Thanks for taking  the time to check us out we really appreciate it. Thanks guys!!

TF: Yes, after a small show in November we are going to be taking a break, financially we need to get some things in order. We also need to write newer material. Like all the songs in our ep  are not written by me, I just recorded them. Our newer stuff is going to be tdarker and really catch people's attention.
