INSVRGENCE - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Metal/Hardcore band INSVRGENCE from USA, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
James: We felt that it encompasses all that we feel and want to achieve as a band. Insurgence by definition means: an organized rebellion aimed at overthrowing a constituted government. We want to make people more politically aware and involved, so we figured it was a fitting name.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
James: we feel the genre we play is an amalgam of all of our different influences. Rafe: we all come from playing/ listening to a lot of grindcore, death metal, thrash, black metal, and other types of extreme music. So all of those genres tend to bleed into the songs we write.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Rafe: I met James through Craigslist back when me and a few friends were trying to start a EasyCore kind of band. (Like veil of maya, but in a major key) The songs we wrote kept getting heavier and heavier so we ended up just saying "fuck it" and started what would become "Insvrgence"
Ryan: I was introduced to the other members of the band through their old drummer who happened to be a long time friend of mine.Once he quit, I ended up taking his place in the group.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Rafe: System Of A Down/The Acacia Strain
Drew: Deftones/Every Time I Die
Ryan: Metallica/Twitching Tongues
James: Poison The Well/Most Precious Blood
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
James: We're inspired by current and not so current events, and being the voice of reason in a world of extremist partisan opinions. We try to see the picture with an open minded perspective.
6. Where was your last gig?
Rafe: Our last show was a hometown show at Red 7 with I declare war, Barrier, Invent/Animate, and some regional friends of ours Unity. Everyone stayed hydrated, and had a swell time.
7. Where would you like to act?
James: We want to go everywhere, especially international touring. Ryan: personally, I'd love to travel anywhere in Europe.... I'd also love to act on Broadway... That's in Hollywood.
Rafe: I would also love to hit all the continents eventually. I also want to be the first band to play fragglerock.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
James: Kublai Khan...
Ryan: I'd love to tour with anyone that is willing to have us hang with them! Rafe: It's a personal goal of mine to tour with The Acacia strain at some point!
9. Whom not?
James: life is a one time experience, so why not get weird with it?
Ryan: Cher. Not because Cher is bad, but because I'm afraid she might die on stage... And I don't want to be a part of that.
James: Cher believes in life after love
Rafe: I wouldn't want to tour with Nikki Minaj, because I'd fear that we would all eventually get stuck in an orbit around her ass, and be unable to continue touring.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Rafe: I once shit my pants on stage... That was pretty frightening. The setting was at the parish underground, and It was on the first song, and I did a posi jump, and the second I landed, I dropped a groverloaf. I usually like to wig out, but the rest of the show I had to stand perfectly still so the turd didn't fly out of my shorts... Although in hindsight, kicking shit on people would be pretty metal.
Ryan: I had stage fright in 8th grade at my schools talent show. The band I was in was covering "Adams song" by blink-182. The second the curtains opened, I felt like I had to vomit all over the world.
James: when I'm nervous, I advise looking over the crowd, and not directly at them. Usually that gives me time to get focused.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
James: see question number 4.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Rafe: We haven't ever really had any weird encounters with fans... But for those of you reading this.. Change that.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Rafe: I try to personally make friends with everyone who comes and checks us out at a show. Some of my good friends now, I originally met at shows we played.
14. What do you think of our site?
James: I think that it's cool that you guys feature a lot of unsigned/underground bands.
Rafe: keep breathing the core. You guys cover some rad bands.
15. Something to add?
Rafe: We are grateful for the interview! Keep an eye out for our full length "The tower" that will be re-released on Innerstrength Records on October 21st, as well as our upcoming full length and tour dates. Regards, Insvrgence
