Meltdown - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Metal/Hardcore band Meltdown from Spain, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
The band’s name came out just like that. We had a confirmed gig with our friends Flattened (Urnieta) and we needed a name, so we did a big brainstorming looking for a good name. Finally, Mikel (Guitar) proposed Meltdown. It doesn’t have a deep meaning for us, but we think that is a powerful name and we all liked the idea, so we put that name to the project.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
At the beginning, we didn’t really know what kind of music we would play, we all love metal and hardcore music but we also listen to other stuff, each member has his own preferences. We started covering other bands songs, and finally our songs came out just like that. We think that in this genre is where we feel more comfortable.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
We knew each other, mainly because we all lived in the same area. Julen (Vocals) knew Bittor (Drums), Mikel and Johnky (former guitar), but didn’t know Ionma (Bass) for example, and Bittor knew Ionma but not Johnky.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Uuuuuf, that’s a tough one man, let’s try:
Julen Sarasua – Northlane
Julen Aduriz – Slipknot Mikel
Amundarain – Dir en Grey Ion
Martin – The Faceless
Bittor Herrero – While she Sleeps
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
We are normally inspired by other bands songs, a melody we like, feelings, personal experiences… Each member brings different ideas while we write songs.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was few days ago at Doka, which is in San Sebatian. We played with Hybrid Moon and Legalize Murder, two excellent bands, you should check them!
7. Where would you like to act?
We would like to act worldwide, one of our dreams is travelling as much as we can and sharing our music with everybody, but if we had to choose a place, we would like to act at the Resurrection Fest in Viveiro, we think it’s the biggest hardcore and metal festival in Spain and it would be great for us playing there in the future.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
We would like to feature and share stage with any band of our genre, but if we had to choose one, we would probably choose Architects, one of our favorite bands.
9. Whom not?
Ummmm, Justin Bieber maybe?
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Actually, last year in our first gig, we were all shitting our pants. We think that you can’t avoid being scared in your first show, but once you do it and get some experience, you start enjoying it more and more. Finally, if you work hard and prepare well your shows, there’s nothing to be afraid of.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
As we have said, different bands inspire us musically, but we feel especially inspired by YAW, Cohen, Dawn of the Maya and Berri Txarrak. They are all basque bands that have succeeded in a way or another, and they are a role model for us.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Some months ago, one guy asked us what kind of drug we consume before playing, he thought it was not possible to keep on moving and jumping so much time without getting drugged. We think the answer is that we are young and energetic stuff hahahahaha.
13. What do you think of your fans?
Our fans are the most important part of Meltdown, without them, everything we do would be a waste of time. We would like to thank them all the support they’ve given us, you are a big part of our family!
14. What do you think of our site?
We think that it is a great initiative, nowadays is quite hard to have a good promotion, and with sites like yours underground bands can arrive to more ears, which is really helpful for people like us, keep on working!
15. Something to add?
Thanks for contacting us, and please check our debut EP. See you soon! http://meltdownband.bandcamp.com/
