North Seasons - Interview

Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Melodic Hardcore band North Seasons from UK, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We were actually originally going to call ourselves 'Seasons' but we figured that would be really hard to find on the internet, plus there are already quite a few bands out there with that name and we weren’t really looking a lawsuit. In the end we added ‘North’ because even though we have all the seasons up here, they are all relatively the same. They’re cold, they’re bitter and they’re most definitely harsh but we wouldn’t have it any other way.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Not to sound cliché but we don't really think of ourselves as belonging to any particular genre - we love hard hitting, energetic, heavy music equally as much as we do catchy pop tunes or really melancholic ambient stuff, so we kind of balance out in the middle somewhere. We all come from very different musical backgrounds and I think it shows, in the best possible way.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Newcastle, for all it is a 'major' city, has a kind of small town vibe where everyone knows everyone. We all came from the same kind of extended circle of friends and Mattie, George and Elias had played in bands together for a few years beforehand. We all knew each other in a roundabout way thanks to the local pop-punk scene, which we are all pretty heavily involved in back when we were younger.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Harvey – Fall Out Boy

Mattie - The Devil Wears Prada

Elias – Deaf Havana

George - Incubus

Kris - Brand New

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

We draw influence from everything around us, both musical and non-musical. Lyrically, we're very motivated by real life events - there's a certain realism that comes from writing autobiographical lyrics and we feel this is really apparent in what we do. But most of all, we write songs to try and make girls fancy us.

6. Where was your last gig?

We last played Think Tank in our hometown of Newcastle. We opened up for ACODA and Now Voyager, both insanely good bands. It was a mental show and we’re super stoked we could show our hometown what we’ve got while opening up for such class acts.

7. Where would you like to play?

Leeds festival main stage, absolutely, that is the dream. Or anywhere in America, just to play in the States would be a dream come true.

8. Whom would you like to play with?

A Day To Remember for sure. They're our favourite band collectively, they're as good as any songwriters in the world today and they are so much fun live.

9. Whom not?

A Day To Remember because they would make us look like utter crap in comparison.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

I don't think any of us can pretend not to have suffered some form of stage fright; it's only natural to have nerves when you're performing in front of other people. The real key to beating stage fright is by practicing your arse off; if you get on stage and you know your parts inside out then there'll be no need for nerves. Or imagine the audience in their underwear, especially if they're hot.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

There are hundreds of artists out there that we love and draw inspiration from; A Day To Remember, Bring Me The Horizon, Northlane, Architects, The Devil Wears Prada, Paramore, Four Year Strong, Heights, While She Sleeps, Of Mice & Men, Issues, August Burns Red. We could literally go on for days.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

George's number, that's the weirdest thing anyone has ever asked anyone else for. In the world. Ever.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We think they're both great!

14. What do you think of our site?

We love it! Anyone that is promoting good music is something we can really get behind, especially one that works with so many bands from all over the world. It's really, really cool  and we hope you guys continue to grow and get more popular, which we're sure will definitely happen!
