Recollections - Interview

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?  

We spent a long time coming up with our band name. We really liked the idea of building songs and ideas off our past and personal experiences. This made the songs acquire true emotion and meaning. We then came up with "Recollections."

2.Why did you want to play this genre?  

Because all of our influences are part of the genre we classify ourselves as, and we don’t see us fitting in any other genre. Everyone’s individual talents put together make this band a great blend and also something different for the genre.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?  

Most of us didn't know each other before the band formed. Ty and Travis had been friends since kindergarten but this whole band was actually started through Craigslist. We all wanted to make music but finding people who were interested and committed was very difficult, especially where we’re from. Somehow we ended up with a great group of guys from different corners of Pittsburgh.

Mike- Adaliah

Ty- Beartooth

Christian- Traitors

Woody- Memphis May Fire

Travis- The Wonder Years

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?  

Anger, hate, reality, loss, betrayal, and things that everyone will face at one point or another in life.

6. Where was your last gig?  

Pittsburgh Metal & Hardcore Fest 2014 in Ford City, PA

7. Where would you like to act?  

The Great American Music Hall San Francisco, CA

8. Whom would you like to feature with?  

Traitors, Thy Art Is Murder, Barrier, and I Killed The Prom Queen

9. Whom not?  

Black Veil Brides

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?  

Not that I can think of. A few members played their very first show with this band. We didn’t play a show for our first few months as a band, so we were prepared for the most part. With tips, all I can say is confidence and practice. The more practice you have, the more confident and comfortable on stage you will be. If something goes wrong don’t make a big deal just keep rolling with it, the show must go on.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Fit For A King is one of my [Mike] most inspiring bands they toured and did so many things DIY for a few years and they are all such great guys

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?  

A fan asked our bassist, Travis, to do questionable things to her daughter named “Heaven”. Ladies love the red hair.

13. What do you think of your fans?  

We have only been a band for about a year, just released our debut EP, and we already have had such an amazing response. The support from everyone has been mind blowing. There’s a lot more cool people interested in what we’re doing than we could have ever imagined.

14. What do you think of our site?  

With such a wide variety of promotions to help bands and having contacts with booking all over the globe, Breathing The Core seems very impressive to me!
