Chaos Before Gea - Interview

CBG Nueva Formación 2

Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Metalcore band Chaos Before Gea from Spain, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We never really planned it, even though it´s a name that we came up with (amongst many others) about a year before we finally settled for it. After Ismael joined the band and started to work with Adrian in the making of the story for “Erebo”, we thought that the name Chaos Before Gea would suit the theme perfectly.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We never really wanted to play any genre exclusively, it just came out that way! As you can hear if you listen to “Erebo”, there´s a wide mixture of genres all along the record, and that´s our personal signature.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we all knew each other (and some of us had even played together before). Some of us knew each other better than the rest, but eventually after 3 years of an almost permanent line-up (With the addition of David on guitars, who was a long-time friend and fellow band member in previous bands) you can say we know each other pretty well

4. Each band member favourite band?

We couldn´t name a favourite band for each member, it had to be and endless list for every member, but here are some bands that had a great impact on each one.

Adrian (Guitars): Annihilator

David Arroyo (Drums): 36 Crazyfists

Damian Schmitt (Bass): Mudvayne

Ismael (Lead Vocals): Tool

David Martin (Guitars): Faith No More

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

For our first album, we focused a bit on social matters and enviromental thinking, but just a bit since all of that is woven inside the bigger story of the album. 6. Where was your last gig? Our last gig was on the west-northern leg of our humble tour through Spain, in Vigo (about a thousand miles from home)

7. Where would you like to act?

Anywhere they want us to play ;). We´d love to go abroad, mostly Europe since you don´t have to go that far away to find metal fans.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Well, it would be a long shot, but we think we could do something really interesting with Mastodon

9. Whom not?

We definately wouldn´t want to have anything to do with our former guitar player, he sucks big time.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Well, most of us had been in numerous bands before, so not much of stage fright we would say, but our tip is this: If you know the songs and you like what you play, just enjoy that part of the show and never focus on who´s watching, the important thing is to have a great time onstage.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Mastodon, Machine Head, Gojira, 36 Crazyfists, Deftones, Devildriver, August Burns Red,...

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

To keep a sweaty towel from any of us... I mean, come on, it´s not like something you would want to keep even from Elvis, right?

13. What do you think of your fans?

We never thought we´d have such an impact coming from nothing, we feel so lucky and we want to thank every last one of them!

14. What do you think of our site?

We always say it´s important for the scene that people like you keep spreading the word around, mostly with genres as hard to take upfront as anything with “core” in it, we would also like to thank you for your great job, keep it up!

15. Something to add?

We are currently finishing the writing process for our 2nd album, and we´ll tell you that if you like the bands we listed as influences before, you´re gonna like our new record. Nothing´s official yet, but it´s thought to be released somewhere around may 2015 so, stay tuned! chaosbeforegea.bandcamp.com facebook.com/chaosbeforegea
