Counters - Interview

Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Djent/Progressive Metal band Counters from Italy, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?  

So..at that time we were really in trouble about the band name..cause every one in the band had his own favourite and we didnt liked each other choice (lol) so at the end we just ended up drawing between the 2 we liked most..and counters won..sometimes its just impossible to make 5 different heads agree .About the signifiy we concentrated on something that sounded good to our ears

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

I think playing this genre its not a planned "choice" ..it came natural as a result of our influences and the tastes of every component in the band.

3 . Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes we did...we used to play in some other projects togheter too..before Counters started as a band.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Mmmhh  very difficult question...Every one listen to a lot of different music but if we ' ll try to choose just one band in the metal/prog family . Fabio(guitar ) - Nevermore . Fabio (bass) - Meshuggah. Riccardo(drum) - Threat signal

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Fabio(guitars) Usually i just sit  with the guitar and start playing some stuff usually related with the mood I am in that moment...when i found something i like i start to work on it and finalize parts...so at the end it's just writing the music i' d like to listen to...just sitting down and let the riffs come out. Fabio(bass) There's no one or nothing in particular that inspire me to write for counters...in this band Fabio(guitars) is the main composer so i tend to help him giving my ideas,finalizing with him parts it's just being not too much self indulgent and be happy 100% about what we are writing ...it's the music we love...thew music we'd like to listen too in our cars..in our stereophones.

6. Where was your last gig?

Unfortunately since the very start with counters we suffered a lot of line-up changes and it's really difficult to find a complete line-up to perform this tracks in  the best way possible.we live in small towns in the south of Italy and belive me that is really difficult to find people with the same musical tastes and  approach in this area.so we weren't able to perform live and at moment the band is still a studio project ..but we are working on it and we 'll try to perform as soon as possible .

7. Where would you like to act?

We all love traveling....so there are tons of places we'd like to play in...if we have to pick one maybe USA

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

If you mean with band we d like to open for...there are a lot...would be a great honor to open for Meshuggah or Devin Townsend..but these are just dreams XD.

9. Whom not?

Justin Bieber.that little crap really gets on my nerves ahhahah

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Mmhh when we were kids and we used to play live with our previous bands yes..maybe we could have suffered a bit of stage fright..just the  first gigs...simply the more you practice the more you can control that feeling and transform it in positive energy on the stage.there's no other secret tip...just practice and work hard on getting your performance the best possible.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Trying to be very concise...talking about influences in the songwriting...Nevermore,threat signal,Deftones,early Mnemic,Devin Townsend,Textures,Killswitch Engage,Meshuggah....in the last years of course bands like Periphery,Monuments have been an influence too..Karnivool is an australian prog band we really adore....at moment we try do listen to different genre of music.some rock,jazz,fusion,electronic...Pat Metheny..Allan Holdworth,Guthrie Govan..Steve Wilson band... we' are getting old you know ahah but at the end the one and only feature that HAS to be present in music for our tastes i think its energy. doesnt care if its metal,rock.prog,jazz,fusion,pop..energy has to be there.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Mmmhh we are still a really small band and at moment nothing so weird happened ahah..we' ll let you know as soon as it happens

13. What do you think of your fans?

We really want to thanks every single one that listened to our music,gave us feedbacks,opinions ,shared it ...you don't play or compose music for other people..but yopu know when someone says to you "hey man i really love your music" its always a great pleasure and reason to be happy and proud

Yes.
