Redound - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Beatdown Hardcore band Redound from Bulgaria, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
We were looking for something that sounds meaningful, but also punchy and rough at the same time. We also wanted to avoid a situation where there are other bands with the same name. So after a few days of discussions, ideas and different suggestions we all agreed on Redound.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
It is the type of music we enjoy listening to and a particular sub-genre that was not really popular here in Bulgaria until the mid-2000s. Beatdown could be an interesting mixture of hardcore, death metal influences and even some hip hop. We love all these styles on their own, so mixing them came naturally.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Most of us did, from high school.
4. Each band member favorite band?
In no particular order and with the remark that we have many more favorite bands:
Alex – Crowbar, Kraanium, Shattered Realm.
Angel – 36 Deadly Fists, Redline, Shattered Realm.
Ivan – Crowd Deterrent, Sutter Kain, Behemoth.
Sasho – Mushmouth, Cro-Mags, Knuckledust.
Vanyo – Four Years Strong, Unit 731, Foo Fighters
We all listen to many other bands and consider them super favorites, it’s difficult to come up with a top 3. Definitely love classic things like Metallica, bands that are completely outside of the metal and punk scene – for instance The Police, old-school hip hop - EazyE, Ice Cube, skate punk rockers like Pennywise, well known established beatdown bands – Nasty, CDC, Six ft Ditch, more recent things like Xibalba, Desolated, the whole UK hardcore scene from Knuckledust to more recent bands… the list goes on and on.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
There are two sides to this question. In general the inspiration comes from favorite bands we have listened to since we were kids, up to this day. If we are talking about what particularly inspires the themes in our recent songs, most of these come from personal experiences, emotions and perception of everyday life.
6. Where was your last gig?
It was a small show here in Sofia.
7. Where would you like to act?
All over Europe and, if possible, we would love to get some North/South American and even Asian gigs. We hear Japan is crazy all the time.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Anyone who enjoys our music and has ideas that could enhance it.
9. Whom not?
Quite frankly i cannot think of a specific name or person, but in general we probably would not consider featuring someone who is known to be a political extremist of any sort, regardless of the direction of his hardline views. We are open minded people and we believe in "not force feeding" your views, believes and ideas to your listeners if they don't approve of them.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Stage fright is relatively normal in the beginning, but you need to remember that you are up there in front of the crowd to have fun and enjoy yourself. A small drink helps a lot, but even if you are a non-drinker just focusing on the positive mindset you should create for yourself is enough. We're not Metallica or Iron Maiden and we do not play in front of thousands and thousands of people, in fact most of the crowd is probably familiar faces and friends, so there is no reason to worry about it.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
All of our favorite bands have inspired us to an equal extend. We listen to a lot of different artists/bands so the mood changes constantly.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
To sign a body part. We always say we do not sign anything, because giving autographs is something that rock stars do. We are not a rock band and we are definitely not stars in any shape or form.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We don't refer to people who like our music as fans. We are a small local hardcore band and most of the people who truly enjoy our music are friends. With that being said, if you are a person who has supported us in any way throughout the years, whether it is coming to a show, buying a cd or a shirt, or simply telling someone else about us, we cannot thank you enough!
14. What do you think of our site?
It looks neat and informative and we think it's awesome that you promote and help bands on your behalf without being asked for it.
15. Something to add?
Good luck with all you do and once again thank you for showing interest in Redound. To all the readers, check us out and if you like what you hear be sure to say hi on facebook.com/redound.
