Skeyes - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Progressive Metal/Hardcore band Skeyes from USA, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Jesse: The idea just kind of spawned while I was looking up at the sky one afternoon. I just thought about how it is truly the only thing that can see everything we are doing on the ground. To me, it seemed like a surreal thing to think about and I was just really in the moment. So Skeyes just seemed to make sense to me!
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Jesse: The precision and technicality that people put into it just blows my mind and the passion that is exhibited by artists in this genre is so empowering and inspiring. I wanted the chance to do the same.
Dale: Who doesn't love groovy, melodic jams? Thats all I have to say about that. haha.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Jesse: Yes. Dale and I have known each other for quite a few years now. I actually owe my entire interest in music to him. He really sucked me in to the metal scene and I feel lucky to grow as a musician with him working in the same band. I got a hold of Mac when the idea came about that I wanted to form this band a few years ago and he has stuck with us since! I couldn't be happier being in a band with the people who helped make this possible!
4. Each band member favorite band?
Jesse- Erra
Dale- Structures and Northlane. Can't pick one!
Mac- Thrice
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Dale: Anything life throws at us. I know it's cliche to say, but everyone goes through difficulties in their life, and being able to take those struggles and turn them into something positive, therapeutic, and inspiring-- is such a relieving feeling.
6. Where was your last gig?
Jesse: We actually haven't played on stage as a band yet! Soon though!
7. Where would you like to act?
Dale: Vans Warped Tour...(cheesy I know, but it would be so sick)
Jesse: The White Rabbit. So many rad shows happen there.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Dale: All of my idles if I'm not limited to what I say. But if I am, I'd have to say Northlane. Always a solid set.
Jesse: For the Fallen Dreams. Hands down.
9. Whom not?
Jesse: Honestly I would feel honored to share the stage with any successful band...except maybe Attila. Haha
Dale: I second that.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Dale: Definitely!! Who doesn't though? You just gotta bite the bullet and shine it up! You might only get one shot.
Jesse: Musically, I haven't had the opportunity to step on stage yet, but I can tell you from my experiences in other situations where I had to get up in front of people that you just need to tell yourself that no matter how long you are up in front of those people, it will be over before you know it. So you just need to take the time you have to be in the spotlight and make it worth your while!
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Dale: Probably the biggest influences on our music would be Erra, Volumes, and For the Fallen Dreams. Phenomenally melodic bands.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Jesse: Thankfully we haven't been asked anything to weird or awkward!
13. What do you think of your fans?
Jesse: They are the foundation of this band. Musicians say it all the time with good reason, but we really are nothing without them. I couldn't be more happy with the support people have shown us since releasing our first single and the support has only grown since then.
14. What do you think of our site?
Dale: It's very clean, easy to navigate, and you guys promote some hella good bands!
15. Something to add?
Thank you so much for interviewing us, and thank you to everyone who takes the time to read it!
