Spectral Fires - Interview

Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Post-Hardcore band Spectral Fires from Australia, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The band name is actually a lyric from a song by At The Drive-In. We thought it was cool and fit the feel we were going for with the band. 

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We all developed an interest in heavy music some time in high school. There's just something about the energy of fast, guitar-driven music and the emotion of hardcore. 

3. 3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? 

Well we have two pairs of brothers in the band (so they go way back with each other!) and three of us have been friends since high school – it just took us a while to get started!

4. Each band member favourite band? 

Harry – La Dispute

Jack – Carpathian

Jonah – Anti-Flag

Lachlan – Touché Amoré

Daniel – Backstreet Boys

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

Our songs are all inspired by feelings or experiences we've had, or they convey our thoughts on certain things. The music is just the perfect way to express ourselves in a way that's heaps of fun!

6. Where was your last gig? 

Our most recent show was last week at the Bendigo Hotel in Melbourne. We actually were filling in for a band from Brisbane at the last minute, but the show was awesome, super fun with a really enthusiastic audience.

7. Where would you like to act? 

Everywhere! We'd love to be able to do a proper tour of Australia some day, though our loftiest pipe dream is to get on a tour through Europe or the Warped Tour in the US!

8. Whom would you like to feature with? 

It would be a dream come true to support our heroes in bands like Defeater, Touche Amore, Break Even and favorite heavy-weights like The Ghost Inside and The Amity Affliction.

9. Whom not? 

We'd play with pretty much anyone given the chance! We'd open for One Direction if they asked us to!

1. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that? 

We all get  nervous sometimes, playing bigger shows or for our friends and family. The best way to counter that is to focus on being confident and proud of what you're doing and to haven fun – performances are always a thousand times better when you at least look like you're having fun!

1. What bands have inspired you the most? 

We're inspired by a huge range of bands; Carpathian is one we all love and a seminal Melbourne hardcore band; Defeater and Touché Amoré are other favourites; and of course At The Drive-In.

2. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for? 

Not so much of a request, but a fan once told us about her plans for a tattoo of out band logo! We couldn't have been more stoked about it though, we would be over the moon if someone got a Spectral Fires tattoo!

3. What do you think of your fans? 

All the fans we have are such wonderfully passionate people, which is often the nature of people in this genre of music; they love music and are committed to the community it creates. We're hugely appreciative of every one of them.

4. What do you think of our site? 

The site is terrific! We stumbled upon it googling 'melodic hardcore bands'! It's a veritable treasure trove of acts that has already turned us on to a couple of our favourite new bands from Australia and elsewhere.
