The Life We Live - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Metalcore/Deathcore band The Life We Live from UK, sot here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Jack: The Life We Live is to represent this band being the life that we live. The songs are about our lives and all draw from past experiences.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Jack: Ever since we were young we've always loved metal and wanted to be a part of a scene that stands for something.
George: We don't play music that people want to hear, we play music that we want to hear, and if other people like it, then that's a bonus, that's what we do this for.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Jack: Yeah, a few of us knew each other for a long time before the band. In our current incarnation, we've been a band for just over a year, but we've had members spreading back a couple of years. Our guitarist josh I (Jack) met in a bar, we got drunk and he's ended up playing for us since.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Jack: My favourite band is Stick To Your Guns. We all have different influences.
George: My favourite band is Maroon 5, which doesn't really go with the music that we play, but we like a lot of different stuff
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Jack: All of the songs that have been written by us represent things we've been through in our lives or things that are important to the band. I personally would never write lyrics that don't I don't agree on or mean anything, because it's just pointless making songs that don't mean anything to yourself or anyone else. I write for myself, as do the rest of the band.
George: ...and that's how every band should write their own music, we draw from experience. Jack is our voice, but if another member has a topic they'd like to discuss lyrically, we can put it into words and let Jack tailor it, and put it into song form.
6. Where was your last gig?
Jack: Our last show was make a scene festival in Middlesbrough, which was just a couple of days ago with the likes of Funeral For A Friend, Heart Of A Coward, The Blackout and a load of other bands.
George: We were on pretty early, but we got a lot of people down to see us, which was a pleasant surprise. So many bands killed it that day!
7. Where would you like to act?
We'd love to play ghostfest download hevy that sort of thing and country anywhere that will have us haha.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Jack: We'd love to play shows with anyone similar to us, basically. Anyone who's in this for the same reasons as us, not money or fame - people who are doing this to show people that not all music has to be popular, it just has to speak to you on a level that you can relate to.
George: But if we had to pick a band, I think I speak for all of us that it'd probably be sweet to play with one of the big four, or Pantera. You get a show of that size, and you're not going to turn it down. We've been fortunate to play with some of our favourite bands this year, and hopefully more to come! You learn a lot from playing with bands you admire, you pick things up from them and work them into your own set to improve and grow.
9. Whom not?
Jack: We wouldn't want to play with money grabbing fakes, essentially.
George: I wouldn't want to play with Morrissey or Kanye West. The amount of bad press those guys get for reasons that scream that they do this for the money is absolutely ridiculous, nobody wants to be associated with those kinds of people.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Jack: I haven't, before. I love being on stage, playing to people. Tips for beginners, don't be scared. If you're doing what you love and making music you love, that's all that matters.
George: I suffered really bad stage fright the first time I got up there. I've found drinking is the answer, I'm a big vodka connisseur, but it's probably not going to help your performance! Psyche yourself up, tell yourself you're going to play the best show you can, and the adrenaline will see you through if you're giving 100 percent. If you believe that you're nervous, it's going to show.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Jack: Stick To Your Guns. Both palms of my hands are tattooed with two of their album covers, they mean a lot to me. George: I'm quite inspired by a lot of the local bands in our scene that are starting to branch out into the world and get noticed a lot more - our friends in My Extraordinary are getting radio play and touring up and down the UK, the guys in Nexilva have been a band since they were about 15 and now they're playing across the UK and Europe with some amazing bands and getting a lot of recognition for their efforts. It puts you at ease to see that bands from your area are doing so well, it gives you that extra push and tells you that if they can do it, so can you.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Jack: I don't really get asked much! Nothing out of the ordinary yet, anyway.
George: I've had people ask me to borrow money and they might like the band, does that count? We don't get asked too weird a request at the moment! Hopefully that'll change in the future, I'd love to get a weird request!
13. What do you think of your fans?
Jack: Our fans are the life and soul of this band we couldn't have done it without you all, thank you so much.
George: Yeah, they know who they are. They're anybody who've downloaded our EP, came to shows, sang the words...something I've not been able to get my head around, is that for a long time we've been playing shows with no music recorded, and yet people are still singing our words back at us, purely based on catching us at shows and learning them. That's true dedication, and for us as a small band, that means a hell of a lot that somebody would take the time out to learn them.
14. What do you think of our site?
Jack: The site is unreal, loads of fresh bands! Check them all out.
George: Agreed! Really liking it, I've found a couple of new bands I had no idea about thanks to it!
15. Something to add?
Jack: Thanks for the interview, big shout out to our bros in North Seasons, they're from our area check them out.
George: Yeah, big things are hopefully coming from them! Also check out Nexilva, check out our friends in Dead Man Down, even though they've split up, check out Preserver and The Casino Brawl, they both smashed it in our city and beyond once upon a time, and as for UK talent, check out Lock & Key, Malevolence, Martyr Defiled, Astroid Boys
