Famous For Nothing - Interview

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?  

“It’s a song by Dropkick Murphys. It came on when I was trying to think of band names and it just sounded right”. – Sam

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

“I grew up with metalcore, singing along to bands like Killswitch Engage. It’s just the style I know best” – Sam

“The stuff on the EP is just what came natural when I was writing and experimenting. A lot of people our age were into that early-2000s metalcore sound” – Kamal

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

“We all either knew either other from previous projects or AJ found us online. There are some great sites out there for finding musicians.” – Sam

4. Each band member favourite band?

“I don’t think we have any favourite bands in particular, but between us we all dig bands like Bullet for my Valentine, For Today, August Burns Red, Parkway Drive, Killswitch Engage and Unearth. Saying that, Tony’s in love with power metal” – Kamal

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?  

“Life experiences give the best inspiration. Writing music is a good escape from things that get you down.” – Kamal

6. Where was your last gig?  

“Rescue Rooms in Nottingham for our EP release show with No Honour and The Winter Hill Syndicate – great bands also from Nottingham” – Sam

7. Where would you like to act?  

“Download Festival would be amazing” – Kamal

8. Whom would you like to feature with?  

“I know I keep saying it but I LOVE Killswitch. I’d kill to play a show with them” – Sam

9. Whom not?

“Are you kidding? We’ll play with anyone! You connect with so many new people through shows.” - Sam

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?  

“I sometimes get stage fright if we’re infront of a new crowd, but I think that’s just the fear that you won’t be accepted. Once you get that first cheer or round of applause it all goes away.” - Sam

11. What bands have inspired you the most?  

“The only reason I wanted to be in band was when I saw a live video of Bullet For My Valentine – it made me realise that’s what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.” - Kamal

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

“People keep asking us to play Parkway Drive covers – I don’t know why.” – Kamal

13. What do you think of your fans?  

“If anyone is willing to endure the noise we make for 20 mins, they must be pretty cool dudes.” - Sam

14. What do you think of our site?  

“It’s great that you’re putting music out there for people who might never connect with it otherwise.” - Sam
