I, Devotion - Interview

Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Post-Hardcore band I, Devotion from Singapore, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

We just randomly thought of it. But we know it has something to do with our devotion to music

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We felt like it was the best way to express our feelings and emotions through this genre. We liked the feel, and it gets us pumped up.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

This band was formed in 2012. We all came from different bands. Nazri called each of us with an idea to start a band together and we immediately clicked.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Nazri: Usually I watch a lot of movies and read a lot of books. I always find myself immersing into the characters of the stories and write songs in a first person view.

Saiful: I usually write about my experiences in life and what inspires me.

6. Where was your last gig?

A month ago.

7. Where would you like to act?

Nazri: Finland

Saiful: Canada

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Definitely. We always try to talk and distract each other. Some of us listen to our favourite bands to get in the mood. Ultimately, it’s about being confident, and having enough confidence.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Issues in terms of vocal style, We Came As Romans in terms of guitar work,structure and sampling.  Born Of Osiris in terms of drums, Like Moths to Flames in terms of feel.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

We wouldn’t call them fans but we’d like to call them our friends though. And I guess. A hug? Haha. Oh and requests to cover songs.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our friends who support us are great. Everyone is very supportive. We owe a big deal to them. We would like to find a better way to thank them. Maybe we’d write more songs? Haha.

14. What do you think of our site?

It’s great! The site really helps a lot of bands to gain exposure. And most of the bands they feature here are really good!

15. Something to add?

We are releasing our EP next year and we will be filming a promo music video in January after our shows in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  The main reason why we all came together to write music cos we had a similar goal in mind. We have our stories, ideas and experiences in life to share, which we release through our music. Some of us even have a message, like anti-bullying, which is what our first music video was about. We want people to be positive about life and everything they go through with our music. We want to help them as much as they've helped us.
