Leopards - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Alternative Rock band Leopards from UK, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
The name Leopards doesn’t really have a very exciting story unfortunately. I wish we could say one of us was raised by a wild group of big cats or something like that; but we basically chose it, liked it and now it’s stuck!
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
I don’t think bands specifically ‘choose’ a genre; it all depends on each member’s influences and style and then I guess the genre just appears. Eventually it all clicks and you make something that sounds great and then you continue to develop that sound. We love playing what we play because it’s fun and people can relate to it, (we hope!)
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Most of us didn’t, our friendships have been formed because of the band and we wouldn’t have it any other way. However, Rhys and Billy have been best friends for years. This can be both a good thing, and a bad thing.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Very hard question. I think out favourites change with time. At the moment I (Jenna - Vocals) am loving PVRIS, Marmozets and In Hearts Wake, but I will always love Paramore. Ben (Guitar) is a big fan of Brand New and RX Bandits, and is really enjoying the new Lower Than Atlantis album. Craig (Guitar) loves Twin Atlantic and Enter Shikari. Billy (Bass) is also a fan of Enter Shikari and Lower than Atlantis and enjoys Muse and finally Rhys (Drummer) is enjoying Young Guns and Architects. We love lots of different types of music and I think that just generally helps as you are more open minded.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
I think our songs are very real and they come from the heart. Our experiences and what is happening in our lives is a big inspiration to what we write and what kind of song we create. They are a true representations of us as people.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gigs were on our November tour with Altered Sky, My Favourite Runner Up and Caveliers. We played a run of 7 shows, but I think the highlight would have to be The Garage 2 in Glasgow, Scotland. It was an electric crowd and a really positive experience for us.
7. Where would you like to act?
Any show is awesome, but it would be great to play some of the bigger venues and possibly some festivals like Slam Dunk, Hit The Deck and eventually maybe Reading and Leeds or The Warped Tour in the USA. Hopefully that is all yet to come!
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
I personally wouldn’t mind getting involved with some heavier melodic music, just to try something different. But I think no matter who you work with it is always an opportunity to grow as a band and just keep progressing.
9. Whom not?
As I said previously, featuring with anyone would be a learning experience, whether it was good or bad!
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
I don’t think stage fright is anything we have ever experienced.. yet! It might come when we have bigger shows, but I think the main feeling we get is excitement, and the urge to just go out there and put on the best show we possibly can! Nerves can be a good thing as they pump you up and release adrenaline, but I guess if people are struggling the only way to overcome them is to just keep doing shows. Eventually your confidence will grow and you will learn to deal with and respond to most situations that you encounter.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
I think the bands that inspire us most, are the bands that put in the effort and work hard to get where they are. For example, we played our first ever show with Don Broco on one of their headline tours in a small venue in Manchester called Roadhouse. Now look at them and what they have achieved, and it is all down to commitment and hard work, and I think that is what inspires us to keep going.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
It isn’t really weird, but I think signing body parts is pretty strange! Signing things in general is a weird concept to get used to, but interacting with our fans is the best part of being in a band.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We love our fans. We call them our Prowlers. They’re so important to us and we want them involved with everything as much as we can. We recently raised £1500 on a pledge music campaign so without them we wouldn’t be doing what we love. We make music for ourselves, but we mainly make music for other people to enjoy, which makes us all just as important as each other.
14. What do you think of our site?
We love it, especially for giving bands like us an opportunity to introduce ourselves to the world.
15. Something to add?
We will be releasing our new EP FUTURE || FATE || FOREVER at the end of February so make sure you all go and check it out. We would appreciate it. Also hit us up on twitter @weareleopards and check out some of our acoustic covers on our Youtube page www.youtube.com/weareleopards. Hopefully we will see you all soon!
