Open For Fun - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Melodic Post-Hardcore band Open For Fun from Italy, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1. W here did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
It came out that way. When we started this band, after some months of reharsals we sit around a table with some beers determined to find out the right name for our band. Our drummer Seba suggested “Open for fun” and everybody agreed, so we chose it.
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
Because this is the genre that represents us at the best. We came from different musical backgrounds and each of us has had different musical influences so we wanted to mix everything to create a sound that could be “our sound”. In our songs you can find rap, punk, metal and electronics.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes of course, we know each other since many years. Particularly Stefano, Seba and John played togheter in another band before Open For Fun started up. After that band broke up we called in Luca that was a good friend of us and then Mauri that we knew and played in a pop-punk local band.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Stefano: Pantera
Luca: NoTimeFor
Seba: Biffy Clyro
John: Fall Out Boy
Mauri: Blink 182
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
There 're no particular things that inspire us. Everyday life is what we talk about in our songs, and we try to represents everyday life as we know it. We hope that our music can move our fans and let them reflect themselves in our lyrics.
6. Where was your last gig?
We played here in Brescia at our release party. It is great to play in our city and see all our friends just moving around and singing along our songs. We are really proud of our fans and we always try to do the best on stage to make them rock.
7. Where would you like to act?
There's no specific place we want to play in. We always try to organize concerts in cities we' ve never been to meet different people and learn from the bands we play with. We think that the most important thing for a band is to play and perform no matter where because live shows are the essence of a band.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Many bands. We met a lot of bands during our tours and it would be great to feature with all of them. Particularly a band that we really enjoyed is All Faces Down from Austria. We met them during our last tour and we had a great time playing with them.
9. Whom not?
We don’t like bands that have no respect for the people they play with. So, definitely we would not like to play with that kind of band.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Of course we suffered from it. In our first shows we felt really frightened at the idea of playing in front of a lot of people but keeping playing you become more confident and you manage to be yourself at the best. Our tip for beginners is to think that people in front of you just want to enjoy and support you. You just have to be yourself and follow the music.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
All the bands we like inspired us in some ways. But the bands that inspired us the most are that of our city with which we grew up. They’ ve always been an example for us and we keep following them to learn more and more.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
The weirdest thing happened in Russia when a fan asked our singer John to give her his underwear and of course John agreed.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We think they’re great. They support us and they follow us everywhere. We wouldn’ t be nothing without them.
14. What do you think of our site?
You’re great because you support underground music and your interviews are really interesting.
15. Something to add?
Keep following us and keep going to live shows ‘cause live music is the best. Believe us.
