PASSOVER - Interview

Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Christian Metalcore band PASSOVER from South Korea, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?  

We're a Christian band, so we got our name from the Bible. We prayed together for a week and we all felt that Passover was a good fit.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?  

Each of us have roots in the metal scene, and along the way, we each individually came to know Christ, so starting up something Christ centered in the metal scene was only natural for us. It started out with just the vocalist and I (Josh, bass guitar), and recruited others via the internet.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?  

As we said before, we all got into metal and found Christ on our own. Only me and the vocalist knew eachother. Passover brought us all together.

4. Each band member favourite band?  

Vocalist (Jinoo) - Sleeping Giants and For Today. He's really inspired by their faith and lyrical work.

Bassist (Josh) - Saving Grace. I love the fact that their lyrics are so spiritually inspiring and they still keep that raw 'Lamb of God' sound.

Guitarist (Jingi) - Dream Theater. His old band used to cover their songs. He takes a ton of inspiration from their sounds. He's the only one who actually went to school for music.

Drummer (Suk-Hoon) - August Burns Red. They're so young but have so much skill.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?  

Well, our biggest inspiration is Jesus Christ. Seeing what He's done in our lives and in the band. We count Him as our source. We have also been hugely inspired by 'Sleeping Giants'. Their personal stories and lives have really affected us lyrically, spiritually, and personally as a band.

6. Where was your last gig?  

In our hometown, Seoul. At the Seoul Summer Rock Festival 2014. We played with Vader. \m/

7. Where would you like to act?  

The States. Playing at Vans Warped Tour would be pretty sick.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?  

It would be pretty cool to do some work with Tommy Green from Sleeping Giants.

9. Whom not?  

I guess anyone intolerant of our beliefs.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

All of us had some at first, but that was a long time ago. I guess you just get used to it. I'd say the biggest help for us was prayer.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?  

Probably obvious by now, Sleeping Giants (we actually didn't get much musical inspiration from them, but more like Christian inspiration), For Today, August Burns Red, War of Ages, Saving Grace...

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?  

In Korean culture, it's not to common to make strange or weird requests, so that kinda limits the amount of weirdness we encounter. A friend asked for an autograph tho. I guess thats kinda odd (?)

13. What do you think of your fans?  

We love all two of them.  But really, we're so blessed to have them. We know they support us. We have FB fans globally. Ironically, we only have a few Korean fans.

14. What do you think of our site?  

Great! We definitely hope you guys keep growing and promoting bands both big and small.

15. Something to add?  

We're honored to be the pioneers of Christian metalcore in Korea and hope others will follow this example. All credit goes to Jesus Christ.
