WICKED WORLD - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Death Metal/Hardcore band WICKED WORLD from USA, so here you can see and give a like their FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Alex: For about a week, we were calling ourselves On Our Own. It didn't really seem to convey the sound we were going for, so we needed a switch. WICKED WORLD just came to me one day out of nowhere. About a week later, Jake and I were watching Red State and in the film, the pastor has a line containing "wicked world" in it, and the line was so powerful and we realized we needed it.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
All: Our band is a good mix of a few different genres. Currently, hardcore seems to be rising to the forefront of the scene. While a couple of us really love hardcore, we wanted something that would really show off our talents, that would really push us. We decided to combine death metal and hardcore, as well as get into our roots with some nu- metal thrown in here and there. We started out wanting to be a band that no one could really pinpoint one exact genre to.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Alex: I knew Jake, Matt, and Chris all pretty well. Chris and I had tried starting bands before but were never able to find anyone who'd commit. This band just sort of happened within two weeks. Chris and I decided we wanted to start something heavy, then Matt and Jake hopped on. I had known of Josh, but never really talked to him. Josh plays in another band called Through My Eyes, but when he's in school he doesn't really have time to play with them, so he wanted to jam with us. None of the other members knew each other prior to the band being formed.
4. Each band member's favourite band?
Alex: Copeland
Chris: The Acacia Strain
Jake: Hour of Penance
Matt: After the Burial
Josh: The Front Bottoms
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Alex: Harms Way, Whitechapel, and Converge. My lyrics tend to be focused on doubt, fear, self-hatred, and religion.
Chris: Rage Against the Machine, Desolated, and Turnstile. All the stress and shit that pisses me off makes me want to write heavy music and express myself.
Jake: Protest the Hero, Job for a Cowboy, and The Black Dahlia Murder.
Matt: After the Burial, The Acacia Strain, and Architects.
Josh: Periphery, Thy Art is Murder, and Streetlight Manifesto.
6. Where was your last gig?
All: Our last (and only gig thus far) was at The Metal Grill in Cudahy, Wisconsin. Here's a short video from our set: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U37BrZ-Yeuw
7. Where would you like to act?
All: New England Metal and Hardcore Fest is definitely near the top of the list. A venue we've all been dying to play is the Chain Reaction. Really any of the metal/hardcore festivals that are put on in the world. Mainly, we just want to tour.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Alex: Right now, I'd love to be on an Acacia Strain song. They just put out a monster of a record - their best in years.
9. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Alex: The best way to beat stage fright is to just go out there and have fun. Who cares if you look stupid; if you seem to be enjoying yourself, other people will enjoy you too. If you don't know exactly what you should do on stage, watch other bands and learn from them.
10. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
All: We've only had one fan really ask us for anything and I wouldn't call it weird. Someone from Brazil asked us to send a signed demo as well as a shirt, but he wasn't able to pay for it. We were considering sending him a signed demo anyway, until we found out how expensive shipping was.
11. What do you think of your fans?
All: Our fans have been nothing but incredible so far. We've had our FaceBook for only a month now and we already have almost 400 likes, and that's with the demo only being out a week and a half.
12. What do you think of our site?
All: It's very clean and easy to navigate. There is really never a "bad" promotional site, because promotion helps bands just as much as everything else does.
13. Something to add?
WICKED WORLD started in mid September of 2014. In late October, the demo was put out and an EP is coming in the next couple months.
