Adharma - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Deathcore/Metalcore band Adharma from USA, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
When we were thinking of what to call the project we wanted something that was not typical and correlated well with the theme of our music. I have always been very interested in eastern religions such as Daoism and it is a word that comes up often. The word Adharma originates from Sanskrit antonym of Dharma. It refers to a state of imbalance and wickedness in the universe, and we feel that it directly relates to the state that our world is in now. Once the name was brought up we were all drawn to it and it stuck. ~Kristian Capek
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Metal, as a genre, is very demanding. It challenges a band both physically and mentally. Being one of the more difficult styles to master and constantly changing, it keeps us on our toes. It also has the absolute best fans and because of them it has proven to not be one of those "faddish" genres. In my own opinion it can also be as mentally stimulating as jazz, which is a fantastic genre as well. In short, it's the most fascinating, energetic, demanding, and epic genre that is out there today and it's not very surprising that the five of us are drawn to it. ~Matt Hargita
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Ryan and Mullikin are both from Gulfport, Mississippi and had been playing in bands together since they were young. As for Tolleson and I, we went to high school together and had always entertained the idea of starting a band. Ryan moved to Atlanta in pursuit of playing music and through mutual friends we got connected. After getting some demos together we sent them to Mullikin and a couple months after that he made the move as well. We picked up Matt about a year ago and I feel like we have gown a lot as a band since then. ~Kristian Capek
4. Each band members favorite band?
Chris Tolleson ~ Manchester Orchestra
Ryan Stroud ~ Coheed and Cambria
Christopher Mullikin ~ Coheed and Cambria
Matt Hargita~ Between the Buried and Me
Kristian Capek ~ The Dillinger Escape Plan
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
It’s hard to pick one thing specifically, but playing metal is a really good outlet to blow off some steam and let out negative energy. With so much going on in the world around us we all have a lot of things that we feel strongly about and it is what drives us to keep doing what we do. ~Chris Tolleson
6. Where was your last gig?
The Masquerade in Atlanta w/ Born of Osiris, Thy Art is Murder, Betraying the Martyrs, Within the Ruins, and Erra.
7. Where would you like to act?
We would love to make it over seas one day. We have always wanted to tour Europe. ~Christopher Mullikin
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Between the Buried and Me
9. Whom not?
Nobody is really out of the question but we aren't trying to waste any ones time. A lot of people don't get into our genre and we completely understand that. That being said, we are all about meeting new people having a good time and traveling anywhere and everywhere. ~Ryan Stroud
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
I think it's pretty normal to get anxious before a show on all different levels of performing. There are two important things to remember when performing in a band. (1.) No matter how many people are out there or how they are reacting- perform like there are a million people in the crowd and fucking love it. (2.) You are not going to be perfect. When you make a mistake don't show it because chances are 95 percent of the people out there won't know unless you roll your eyes or make a face. ~Matt Hargita
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
All the bands we have gotten the chance to share the stage with. It is really cool to see all the hard work that people put into their music and performances. ~Chris Tolleson
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
I really wish we had some crazy story to tell. Although some of the people we have met have been a tad strange, nobody has asked us for anything that out of the ordinary yet. ~Christopher Mullikin
13. What do you think of your fans?
We think our fans are what keep us going because we don't write music that has a target market in mind, what we put out is a product of artistic freedom released to the public. Those of you who truly enjoy and embrace the end product of this we consider fans and we love you all for it. The support that we get is really what gives us the drive to put out new and innovative material. Oh, and come and shoot the shit with us after show, this is our favorite part. ~Matt Hargita
14. What do you think of our site?
You post a lot of awesome bands and we really appreciate you wanting to do the interview with us. Anyone who supports up and coming heavy music really means a lot to us. ~Ryan Stroud
15. Something to add?
We have been very fortunate to make it this far as a band, but we would not of been able to do so without the support of our fans. Playing this kind of music as well as any other kind of music is very hard work. If you like the bands in your local scene let them know, go out to a show, or buy some merch. It is those little things that have kept us moving forward and growing as a band. ~Chris Tolleson
