Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Deathcore/Metalcore/Trashcore band The Praetor from Chile, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It would be wonderful to have a deeper explanation to this question, but we have to be honest.   When someone in the band had the idea, we actually didn’t know specifically what a Praetor was. We searched for the correct meaning and function that Praetors had in the ancient civilizations, that took a while, so then we took the decision. We are The Praetor. We, the people, must take charge of the justice and decisions by ourselves.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Once we were listening one of the bands we like and… “F*ck, this sounds amazing, but would be better with something like this” (Beautiful guitar riff). “Yeah man, and with some of this too” (Rare drumming on the lap). So, when we realize, we were creating something different, but we like a lot. It sounded heavy, but beautiful hahaha. Then, when the creative process started, we begun  to mix a lot of our influences. We create the perfect music for us, we create the music that we wanted to listen.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, we know each other. We have had to share stage and gigs some times. Actually, Andrés and Victor (Guitar/vocals and drums respectively) had a tribute band to Trivium. Haha, that time was funny.  But we got bored of playing covers, we had a lot to give, and a lot to create.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Jonathan’s favorite  band is Dream Theater. He enjoys more the progressive genre. Victor, on the other hand, likes more deathcore, or technical deathcore, his favorite band is Thy Art is Murder. Same as Andres, wich favorite band is Slice the Cake.

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

What inspired to us to write the music and lyrics, was to found a way to express what we feel every day. We are all students, we are far away from our families. Sometimes we feel homesick, sometimes weak, and sometimes we feel stronger. Here in this cold city, we can see and live a lot of experiences. Experiences that can be turned in music.

6. Where was your last gig?

As band, we first made our album, and now we are preparing ourselves for our first gig in a couple of weeks. We are very excited, because the people here already knows us, and they support us a lot.  With our past band, we had our last gig maybe in a year and half.

7. Where would you like to act?

We would like to know new places and people. We think our country (Chile) is a wonderful place to play our music and also travel while you do it. That’s our first goal. Then, we would like to expand our music to Latin America and the world. Yes, we would like to play in many places but there is a place where we would ever come back. A little and humble bar called “Híbrido” here in Temuco – Chile. This was the first place where we play in a gig, when we came here to study.  We felt the people’s love and we like it a lot, it was sick. So, we think we want to progress and play in bigger stages, etc, but the heart is strong.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We think this is a  very personal question, because we all like different things.  There are amazing bands in Chile, that we admire, as Mountains, Asense, etc. It would be nice to share stage whit them. We have a lot in common.

9. Whom not?

Mmm, hard question. We think there is not a band bad enough to not play with.  We all started  from nothing, and we hate the bands that says “Oh, sorry, we play better that you, so we will not share stage in this gig”. Disgusting. We will be happy to play with the people who enjoy and love it.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Actually yes. A little bit.  When we started to play and we didn’t have any experience. We came from a little town called Curarrehue, near to Temuco, where we play and study now. In that town, the people didn’t use  to see in us a big deal.

The first times at stage, Andrés was really frightened, because they sang really well, but didn’t have experience in breathing. The first night we said: “Ok, we are new in this. There is some people who don’t trust in us, so let’s do it. Maybe individually we are not so strong *But together, we have no fear, together we are a mountain*” And that last sentence is now part of the lyrics of one of our songs. (Only the Braves).  A tip for beginners, would be not beat it, just deal with it. You have to realize that you don’t have anything to be afraid. As musicians, we could say that being nervous is fine, and maybe you will need it. But as I already say, you have anything to be afraid.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

We think the bands that have inspired to us the most, are the bands that as the same way to us, prevail in spite of the lack of facilities. We don’t spend anything in production, or recording. We just made the album with the things that we had. Our instruments, an interface and a laptop. Here in Chile are a lot of this bands. We respect and admire them. If we have to say names, it would be differents, but there are bands as Derrumbando Defensas (Hardcore – Temuco, Chile).

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Hahaha,  we think the weirdest think was a question to one of us from a girl after  our first gig. It was something like “could you sleep with me tonight :c “ . She was drunk, and obviously nobody in the band went to her apartment… (*) .We would prefer to not give names, but thereafter a member of the band saw the same girl of the gig in the university. She was a teacher. Hilarious.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We think our fans are our friends. We like to feel that our music touches his life. The band is actually new, so we are not so known yet, but the people who follows us is amazing, it means the world for us.  Our fans are f*cking good people. Is nice to hear “Hey guys, when you come to play to our city, my home is your home” (Tears run down our cheeks).

14. What do you think of our site?

We could answer this question by two ways, as fans and as musicians. As fans, we think  you are doing an amazing work. Is nice to have a reliable way to know new bands, listen new sounds and download it. It’s great to constantly find new thinks to check, and also the page is really clear, allows us to know more about the bands we like, and lastly, we love to listen these songs list on SoundCloud when we enter to the page! What a big success.

As musicians, we could say that you are the first in ask to us for an interview, and give us an opportunity to share our music with the world and tell more about the band. This means a lot for us. Really.

15. Something to add?

We have a lot of things to add, but no one is so important as say thank you. We want to persevere; we want to make more music and become in better musicians. With our first album we demonstrate that the people who wants to create music, doesn’t need big amounts of money in production, we want to keep in this way. We hope you to enjoy our first EP, It’s made with all the love as possible.
