Amongst The Survivors - Interview

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that ?

Casey and I (Ramon) were playing Last of Us on ps3 while trying to put together a band name and the conversation snowballed into surviving a zombie apocalypse and i said something along the lines of being amongst the survivors in an apocalypse and thus, Amongst the Survivors became our name.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We all enjoy metalcore and progressive metal bands so it just made sense to play progressive metalcore.

3.Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Ramon and I (Casey) knew each other, but everyone else came together when the band formed.

4. Each band member favourite band ?  

Ramon: Periphery

Kendall: Tesseract

Jim: Killswitch Engage

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs ?

The love for music is what inspires us to write it.

6. Where was your last gig ?

Our last gig was at the Keynote Cafe in Jeanette, PA.

7. Where would you like to act ?

It'd be awesome to play at Stage AE.

8. Whom would you like to feature with ?

We've wanted to have Ryan Kirby or Trevor Pool on one of our tracks. Or Spencer Sotello. Or maybe Phil Bozeman. Any of them would be awesome.

9. Whom not?

Anyone in Blood on the Dance Floor.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright ? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Nope. None of us have surprisingly.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Periphery, Erra, Northlane, Slpiknot, Killswitch Engage, Parkway Drive, Invent Animate, Chiodos, Linkin Park, Fit For a King, For Today, Meshuggah, the list goes on.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?  

Someone asked me (Casey) for nudes in exchange for downloading one of our songs once.

13. What do you think of your fans?

They're awesome. It feels great seeing them react to our music. We write music for ourselves, but it's amazing when others enjoy what we put out.

14. What do you think of our site?  

It seems like a pretty awesome site. Some pretty talented artists on there.

15. Something to add?  

We have a single out called "Malady" off of our upcoming EP titled "Armageddon". Check it out guys! The EP will be released sometime this spring!
