Stratos - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Technical Metalcore band Stratos from Canada, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Warren was driving home from school one afternoon after watching the new Cosmos series and he thought of the stratosphere and he just thought of STRATOS. A secondary definition is an ancient city in Greece where the first amphitheatre was built so it just kind of stuck!
2. Why did you want to play this genre?
We feel that this is where we belong! We want to bring a new style of sound to metal and core and it is a type of music we are all very fond of. (Warren: I was also drawn to metal party due to the difficulty the percussion presented and wanted to learn more complex rhythms)
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Warren, Don and Chris were in the prototype project for STRATOS for the past 7 years and added Chris’ cousin Dylan on bass. Nate tried out for the band shortly after and he was an instant fit.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Warren - Lamb Of God
Don - Pantera
Dylan - Voltaire
Nate - We Came As Romans, Norma Jean
Chris - Pantera
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
People and situations that are relevant to us in life. We take from everything we hear in our daily lives and bring it to the table.
6. Where was your last gig?
The APK in London, Ontario
7. Where would you like to perform?
We’d like to get all across Canada, and the US. Although any opportunities in Europe or Asia would be incredible.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Protest The Hero, Fallujah, Kittie, Norma Jean, Parkway Drive, After The Burial, August Burns Red
9. Whom not?
Black Veil Brides.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Nathan has suffered from a little bit of stage fright and he finds getting stoned helps him. For most of us though we find that being prepared, and putting in the practice hours keeps us calm and focused when the time to perform comes. Just take a few slow deep breaths, be confident, and kill it.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Norma Jean, Pantera, August Burns Red, Parkway Drive, After The Burial
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
For Nathan to scream for them in the street.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We have the best fans a band could ever ask for! They are honest and patient with us and always let us know how we are doing and what we need to improve on or change. They are always present whether it’s at shows or online interactions.
14. What do you think of our site?
We feel that it is a breeding ground for new extreme music talent! Very well thought out and put together and we hope to be featured on it for a long time to come!
15. Something to add?
Stick around and you’re going to be in for some crazy shit.
