El Apuntador - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Post-Hardcore band El Apuntador from Spain, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Alex (guitar): From the very start I thought El Apuntador sounded pretty cool, and I really liked the meaning behind it. A person, hidden somewhere, telling you what to say, what's your line in the theater of life. That topic about playing a role works pretty well.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?
To tell you the truth, we don't even know what genre we play anymore. The band started trying to emulate bands like Today is the day, Neurosis, Opeth or Will Haven. Over time, I discovered I really didn't like to sing the way we tried to sing, so the music and the overall atmosphere changed a lot as we tried to sing melodies and odd armonies. Then some songs came out almost as 90's alternative rock, and the band sound became really peculiar. Personally, I'd like to harden the music but keep experimenting with odd clean and gravelly voices.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Joaquim (guitar), Rafel (drums) and Alex went to the same high school. Manel (bass) is Rafel's brother, so he was around. You may say we knew each other separately. Rafel and Joaquim were in a band called From Step To Nowhere. Then Joaquim asked Alex to join in as bass player and, when that band ended, Rafel entered as drummer in El Apuntador, which existed with a different lineup. Manel, bass player in Rembrand42 joined the band soon after.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Manel: Johnny Cass
Rafel: The Jesus Lizard
Joaquim: Kylie Minogue
Alex: Nirvana
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Mainly great bands and musicians we like. And sometimes a simple sentence or word rings a bell and pushes you to work something out with it.
6. Where was your last gig?
A: Our late gig was in Sabadell, in a bar called Dark Factory.
7. Where would you like to act?
A: There's a little place called The Rincón Pío Sound, in Badajoz, where many really cool bands from the spanish underground go. I'd definitely want to play there. And thinking big, to be part of the Roskilde festival, in Denmark, could be mindblowing.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?
A: Trono de Sangre, a great band from Madrid. And also Criatura, amazing combo from Zaragoza. And thinking big again, maybe Mastodon or Textures would be amazing.
9. Whom not?
We'd rather not say. Making enemies is not a good idea in this business.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Alex: I haven't, but I can tell you that sometimes my hand gets a little shaky!

11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Lots of bands of the grunge era, Refused, Will Haven, Today Is The Day, and Don Caballero to name a few.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
STOP PLAYING!!! But I bet she wasn't a fan...
13. What do you think of your fans?
A: We are really grateful some people like what we do. Makes us extremely happy.

14. What do you think of our site?
A: Really awesome, you promote and cover an infinite number of great underground bands, and you do it with stile and asking nothing in return. I want to be part of that. You people are cool.
15. Something to add?
A: Thanks a lot for having us, it's been a real pleasure. We would like to invite your audience to discover us and give us a listen. We don't sound really coreish but we have something to say nonetheless. You can find us here https://elapuntador.bandcamp.com/
And keep up the great work!
