Harta - Interview

HARTA_promo2015

Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Metalcore band Harta from Latvia, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

It just came out like that. That would be the short answer. We did have a long discussion about it till we finally landed on Harta.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We somehow grew towards it as time went on. Most of the guys in the band used to play heavy/thrash metal with some core influences, but always listened to a variety of music, including metalcore, hardcore, progressive metal and whatever else we came across, so this was some sort of a switch to something new that could get us digging, get us working, get us thinking and, ultimately, engaging ourselves into something, and, hopefully, involve our audience into doing the same! There is not a single reason, it is the alliance of many.

We feel, that in this kind of genre there's no limits! It feels heavy, at the same time very melodic.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

We did know one another, as four of us had been in the same band before and three of us have even been touring a bit together. Our guitarist Karlis was also noticed by several members in his other projects and later begun to work at the same office with Joe, the bassist, so... after a while we came together and gave it a shot - 'twas a bullseye, I tell ye! The metal community in Latvia is within numbers where people sort of know one another anyway, so bands forming this way is not that extra-ordinary, one could say.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Joe: Soilwork / Kalle: Architects / Rob: Avenged Sevenfold / Toms: Periphery / Karlis - (Led Zeppelin), but I cannot name a single one

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Joe: I write like three songs per year, you know, so my inspiration could be a great compilation of what I've seen and heard, done and eaten along the way. There is always something that sparks the writing process, though, something that gets me going, I begun writing our first single, for instance, when I just wanted to prove myself that I can still write and it is of some value to someone, and it was - to my mates, first of all.

Rob: Feel is what drives me to write new songs! I imagine some kind of picture how exactly people would react or feel for some kind of song and then I try to write the best what I can!

Toms: I need a space, where I am alone, there is silence, my guitar and headphones and that's it - new riffs come out.

6. Where was your last gig?

As we have not had any gigs with HARTA yet, the last gig we had was at our rehearsal space for the lonely Hughes & Kettner combo amp which nobody wants to use.

7. Where would you like to act?

Download or Bloodstock or maybe our old highschool to maybe inspire some younger kids, the same way we were inspired once when a metalact came to visit.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Joe: Architects would be nice to feature with, Periphery, too, because I really want to meet those guys!

9. Whom not?

Joe: Iron Maiden - we would be slain within first 30 seconds of the gig.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Joe: I have experienced some stage fright before bigger gigs or outside our own country, but there is a tip: play for yourself and your mates and just have a blast!

Rob: A gig is a gig. Player should remember that being on stage is no longer a practice etc. But it is The Show, and you should try to do the best you can.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Joe: If you want names, I would have to say: Machine Head, Soilwork, Protest the Hero, Architects, Periphery... but not always for the music style, but sometimes for the work attitude, attitude as such and pure talent... or jokes.

Rob: Bullet for My Valentine, Soilwork as well, All that remains, Avenged Sevendold, you name it. Personally, every kind of music is an infulence.

Toms: Architects, Monuments, Periphery, Slipknot, Meshuggah..but there is not a strong single influence, things that surround us are the main influence.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Kalle: To sign boobies or an arm.

Toms: Same as Kalle..Boooooobs :D

Joe: I guess I am waiting for something weirder!

13. What do you think of your fans?

We love our fans, don't think a band can survive without a bunch of crazed heads who somehow happen to be in synch with yours!

Rob: "Fans", I think, is not the right word for us! It's family, or crew. Because through gigs, because of music awesomeness, we become one giant family!

14. What do you think of our site?

Joe: The site is great!! I was writing my response whilst listening to the music on the site - good job involving new acts that want to be heard!

15. Something to add?

Joe: Keep it up and give new acts a listen, you will be surprised how much there is to find, hear and see!

Rob: Music will never disappear. Sorry guys :). So Just keep listening old, new bands. Because there are a lot of masterpieces out there.
