Lay It On The Line - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Hardcore band Lay It On The Line from UK, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Well the original plan was to do a generic, beatdown band for fun. So we chose the most beatdown name we could think of. But then never played any beatdown whatsoever...
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
I had been doing solo, folk punk stuff for a while since my old band Phinius Gage split - and I wanted to do totally the opposite. I would say Hardcore is the only genre we all agree on too.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
We been through a lot of members since we started in 2012, but Matt is my brother - Duncan we knew through friends and heard he had played bass in Hang The Bastard (which was a winner for me) - Hannah we've known for a while. She was the guitarist in The Ramonas, but Matt and her lived together for a while too. Its all a bit inbred in the UK music scene I guess.
4. Each band member favourite band?
I can't speak for the others, but I love Maiden, Slayer and Pennywise amognst everything else. I don't even want to know what the others would say. Something much less good than Slayer.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Our EP and album are based on the teachings of The Process Church - the same subject as most Holy Terror bands. Its a great subject to write about, because there is so much scope. And I love the teachings - basically its like 'Life is pretty pointless, so be nice to people, be good to animals and hope that whatever is there in the afterlife won't judge you badly'.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gigs were a tour with Pariso, who are a fucking heavy band from London. Alex runs Holy Roar Records. It was a UK tour. A lineup change meant we took a few months after that - touring Germany in May.
7. Where would you like to act?
I really don't care as long as people want to see us.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
I'd love to do some shows supporting Expire, but I can't see that happening any time soon!
9. Whom not?
I'm not into negativity. Just not with bands who are down on life.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
I can't say I do. I used to panic about equipment failing for big shows, but now I only do vocals I don't have to worry except to know I'm loud enough...
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
For our sound at the moment I guess Raised Fist, although I would say Dead Swans are the band I most like to emulate from the UK. Best band we produced in the last few years.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Matt (our guitarist) smashed his guitar onstage. One kid wanted one of the halves it had split into. He was too upset about it to answer...
13. What do you think of your fans?
Ha, we could do with some more. Ha! No, seriously, anyone who listens to our band and it means a lot to them is owed our eternal gratitude.
14. What do you think of our site?
Seems very cool to me - alot of the bands are new on me, so that's ace!
15. Something to add?
Um, just that our new EP is out now - on Spotify and all that :) And CD is on http://layitontheline.bandcamp.com :)
Thanks
