Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Djent band Ubin from Spain, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Our first show was approaching and we didn't have a "serious name" as we named the project Pa2Cr (Pablo, Pablo and Cris, we didn't have a bassist at that point) We were like...throwing names at the chat until Pablo came with the UBIN concept. Ubin is a singaporean island formed when three animals (a frog, a pig and an elephant) challenged each other to a race to reach the shores of Johor. The animals that failed would turn to stone. All three were unable to reach the other side so yeah, they turned to stone and formed the island. We were three at the time so we liked it.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

When we started the band we didn't want to limit ourselves to only one genre (as in only play metal) and we'd try to bring every influence to our music, this is what it turned to.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

No, a common friend introduced us to each other at a concert and we had the same goals on music so we started playing together. Pablo (guitarist and screaming) entered the band some months later and Jorge (bassist) joined us last month.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Cris: I don't think I have a favorite band right now, I've been digging Animals As Leaders, Periphery, Tigran, Villains and Monuments new albums lately.

Pablo C: Deftones, Tool, Isis, Protest The Hero, Radiohead... but I share a lot with Cris and the rest.

Pablo A: At the moment Camaron de la Isla, but I share most of the bands with the guys.

Jorge: Dream Theater, Muse, Queen, RnL, Epica...

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Life, new techniques, jamming with better musicians, sleepless nights...

6. Where was your last gig?

We played a couple of times in front of people but as Frieza would say, that wasn't even our final form, we'll start playing "official" shows soon.

7. Where would you like to act?

Cris: Everywhere, I don't mind but Japan would be cool. Pablo C: I think it would be cool just to perform anywhere abroad in a small club filled with interested people.

Pablo A: Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, of course. Jorge: ¿Wembley?

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Cris: Playing with one of the before mentioned bands would be a dream come true but I'd like to play with the Cró! guys.

Pablo C: I wouldn’t mind opening or sharing stage with bands that share our influences, way of life or style, them being famous or not.

Pablo A: Any open minded band who wants to share music and some beers!

Jorge: With bands I like.

9. Whom not?

We'd like to play with as many bands as possible, I don't care about genre..etc. Limiting yourself takes you nowhere.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Playing in front of as much people as you can does the trick.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Cris: Picking up a 8 string really expanded a lot my playing so I'd thank Tosin Abasi and Josh Martin for that.

Pablo C: Probably Tool, they got me into the odd time signatures and I’ve been searching for them since then.

Pablo A: When writing for Ubin, I always have in mind the attitude of Dillinger Scape Plan and the happiness that Protest the Hero makes me feel.

Jorge: I can´t answer this. I listen to a lot of different music and every genre helped me grow as a musician.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

A guy from Nepal asked us what the meaning of UBIN was because it was his last name and he didn't knew, I wouldn't call him a fan but yeah, pretty weird.

13. What do you think of your fans?

I don't think we have a fanbase yet but so many people is saying nice things about our music, it's really exciting.

14. What do you think of our site?

It's sick.

15. Something to add?

Well, yeah, thank you for the support. Our first EP "Empyrean" can be purchased on ubin.bandcamp.com for free!
