Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Djent/Electronic band Evolution from Canada, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1. Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Dallas – Firstly, we thought of the genre idea. A modern way to mix EDM and Djent. We started creating music and we couldn’t think of any bands, that we personally listen to, that sound anything like what we were making. I thought of the name ‘Evolution’ and could not believe there wasn't an already established artist with the same name. We searched for days on Facebook/Myspace/Google and couldn't find one artist that called themselves ‘Evolution’.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

Dallas – I went to school with Viktor and always had a memory of him making EDM beats and catchy melodies in class on his laptop while the rest of the class was either doing homework, starting immature drama or talking about what car they wanted to buy. I didn't think much of it until after I graduated. Once I graduated I knew I wanted my career to have something to do with music. So I started a booking agency, Rain City Bookings and tour managed my first ever tour with Black Tongue, Villains, Lifeforms and gave my band, Galactic Pegasus, the opportunity to open the tour package. At this point in time I was only learning drum tracks and patterns that other members in the band wrote and was adding to them. I started getting sick of that and wanted to learn the basics of production so I could have the ability to create my own patterns, drum tracks and full songs. After a couple tours I started becoming better friends with Viktor and he taught me the basics of production. He provided me with Ableton Live 9 and many different add-ons, samples and presets. I then had a vision of a brand new way to mix the two popular genres of music so I asked Viktor if he would be interested in working together on creating material that is a mix between modern EDM, which is what he is most familiar with, and modern Metal/Djent, which is what I am most familiar with. We then purchased an 8 string guitar together and started creating music we saw potential in. We focus on the flow of our tracks. The last thing we want to do is throw the listener off with random transitions.

Viktor - Mostly because we saw potential in our experimental workflow and genre. We also wanted to create a way in which metal heads and EDM fans can be together at the same show and not have a genre war, but rather enjoying the music from whatever musical standpoint you may have.

3. Each band member’s favorite band?

Dallas – Metal: Animals as Leaders or Northlane.

EDM: Knife Party or The Algorithm.

Viktor – Metal: Erra or Counterparts.

EDM: LOUDPVCK or Haywyre.

4. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Dallas – Going to concerts and watching the energy and excitement on stage is what inspires me.

Viktor – The wide variety of genres I listen to and implementing small aspects from each is what inspires me.

5. Where was your last gig?

Dallas – We have yet to perform our first show but quickly after we released our demo track “Catalyst” we were offered to have our debut performance opening for a band that inspires both myself and Viktor greatly. We are extremely excited and cannot wait to announce the show.

6. Where would you like to perform?

Dallas – Performing at Warped Tour or Mayhem Festival would be a dream for me.

Viktor – Coachella.

7. What are your thoughts on the reaction your demo track “Catalyst” is getting?

Dallas – I am extremely surprised at the reaction. I knew due to the sound being different compared to some of the other bands who have mixed EDM synth with Djent/Metalcore that we might get some attention right off the bat but I didn't think this demo track would cause as much controversial conversation as it did. The track started many arguments/discussions over the genre name and if the sound is “evolutionary” or not.

8. What are some plans for the future of the group?

Dallas – I have been in search for the perfect members for this group. An announcement regarding full time band members for the band will come once we announce our debut performance. We will be re-recording and producing “Catalyst” for our debut EP. As of right now we are looking to have a late summer release for it and are planning on including 4 other tracks on the EP.

9. What do you think of our site?

Dallas - I think this site is great way for metalheads all across the world to be introduced to more modern up and coming bands. Stay metal \m/
