Payback - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Hardcore band Payback from Philippines, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
It sort of just came out. We all wanted a one-word name for a band that would sound simple yet unique, and has a little bit of kick to it. No rocket science explanation. Just that.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Our influences were rooted from both metal and hardcore and we wanted to blend both elements in the way we sound.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yes, we knew each other from before as our former bands used to play together at events.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Our singer, Nico, listens to Deftones and Whitechapel a lot and he incorporates both Bozeman's and Moreno's style in our songs.
Reidon, our bassist has a mixture of old school hip-hop like Wu Tang Clan, Run DMC, but also digs the Gothencore bands like At The Gates and In Flames.
Joel, one of the guitarist, writes riffs that are heavily influenced by Hatebreed,Antagonist A.D,Code Orange and Converge.
Edward, the other guitarist, writes riffs that are comparable to bands like Lionheart, and also, Antagonist AD .
Yuri, the drummer, cites influences from bands like Nasty, Harm's Way and Counteparts.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Nothing really, it's all drive. The idea to write or make more songs is what pushes us.
6. Where was your last gig?
It was in an open studio in a penthouse in the province of Bulacan - that shit was cool. North Studio Rooftop Sessions
7. Where would you like to act?
Anywhere, really, Impericon would be a dream come true; so is Warped Tour. Events like that will get you hooked up with bands that you grew up with, or bands that you listened to for a long time
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Antagonist AD would be swell. Sam Crocker's such a cool dude
9. Whom not?
Nothing in particular. Bands with make up maybe?
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
We have been in many different bands before we came together, as Payback, it sometimes do happen but not as often anymore. Tip for beginners is hit the studio. Don't play at events without knowing ever single note in your OWN song. Period.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Antagonist AD; their last 3 records are killers. Deez Nuts, wicked party boys.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Nothing really, but being called out in public when you are on your way to the grocery on a normal day is always a refreshing experience.
13. What do you think of your fans?
They're all sick. Seeing them kick invisible enemies while we play our songs have always serve as motivation
14. What do you think of our site?
We are grateful that there are sites like yours, it's a big help to little bands like us, knowing that we are from a very small country. Keep it up, Breathing The Core!
15. Something to add?
Thank you Breathing The Core for the opportunity to be featured in your columns. Such a pleasure.
