Royale - Interview

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The name "Royale" was very carefully planned by ourselves and our manager Wade Concienne (Like Monore) to ensure that our new name fit our new style of music.

2.Why did you want to play this genre? 

All of us growing up have been into metal music and the metal scene. We just love how much energy is in every show. It's too much fun!

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed? 

Yes. Tyler Larson, Brandon Melendez, and Nick Lu were part of the Houston Hard Rock Band "Strength In Shadows" when we decided to make the transition from "Strength In Shadows" to "Royale" we met David Boen and Jean Arce through mutual friends.

4. Each band member favourite band? 

Tyler Larson - "After The Burial / SlipKnot"

Brandon Melendez - "Avenged Sevenfold"

Nick Lu - "ERRA / Of Mice & Men"

David Boen - "SlipKnot"

Jean- "The Ghost Inside"

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs? 

There are too many bands to list that inspire us. What we listen to really has an impact on our style of music and the what kind of song we write that day.

6. Where was your last gig? 

Our last gig was at Walters Houston and our next show is also there with our friends in Myka Relocate May 16th!

7. Where would you like to play? 

We want to play all over the world.  touring is a second home to us, so playing the entire "Vans Warped Tour" would be a top contender as well.

8. Whom would you like to feature with? 

We would feel very fortunate to feature with anyone, but if we had to choose we would love to be featured with bands like Architects, Northlane, Erra and In Hearts Wake. We would also love to be featured with bands that are based in Houston like, Myka Relocate, Concepts and Brightwell.

9. Whom not? 

No one. We feel very fortunate that someone is covering us regardless of how established their magazine is.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that? 

When "Royale" was formed, our bassist Tyler Larson made the transition into being both our bassist and vocalist. With that came his first ever encounter with stage fright. His advice for beginners would be to " Write a song that pumps you up to a point past fear, a point where it becomes just you and the music"

11. What bands have inspired you the most? 

We all have our separate influences, but we really look up to bands like "Of Mice and Men" and "Avenged Sevenfold" for their ability to be a Major act and still give their fans the attention they deserve.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?  

A couple of fans have asked us to take them to our shows. Since we have a younger fanbase, they can't drive. It's cool that they want to come out to the show so badly that they'll ask us for rides.

13. What do you think of your fans? 

 We absolutely adore our fans. They are the heart of our band, and they keep us going.

14. What do you think of our site? 

 Your site is sick! Definitely something to keep up with!
