Serval - Interview

Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Post Rock/Post-Hardcore band Serval from Spain, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

Fer: We chose the name “Serval” because it met three conditions: it is short, is spelled the same in English than in Spanish, and specially, there wasn't any band that had chosen this name.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Pérez: It wasn't something deliberate, we just got together looking to do something personal and we did this.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Hugo: Fer and I have known many years ago and we have already played in some bands together. Pérez was flirted by Fer when he was drunk one night after seeing a show with his previous band.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Fer: Alexisonfire

Pérez: The Police

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Fer: Instrumentally is usually something intuitive, sometimes is a trial and error. When i feel that something sounds interesting I keep that idea and show it to Hugo and Pérez. About the lyrics, in “Alsace” they are pretty pessimistic because that was wich prompt me the music.

6. Where was your last gig?

Pérez: The last and first, in Vigosónico, a rehearsal local with a concert hall subsidized by our city council.

7. Where would you like to act?

Hugo: In any great fest where play some bands that we admire, such as Resurrection Fest, speaking of some nearby.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Fer: Chino Moreno from Deftones.

9. Whom not?

Pérez: Chad Kroeger from Nickelback.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Hugo: Yes, always when we don't have any time to drink some beer before going onstage. Council? Drink a pair of beers. (Cheers)

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Fer: Berri Txarrak. Pérez: Thrice.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Fer: somos una banda muy joven todavía, no hemos tenido ocasión de interactuar mucho con nuestro público.

Fer: we are a very young band yet, we have not had much chance to interact with our audience.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Pérez: The same answer as the 12 question.

14. What do you think of our site?

Hugo: It's great that there is a website to support emerging bands and not only the already established, like most of it usually do.
