Tahoe - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Post-Hardcore band Tahoe from France, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Antoine: We always wanted to give our band name a strong signification. One day I simply came across an article about lake Tahoe in California. I began to search about it, this lake was considered a divinity by the local indians. This place shows great contrasts: from hot beaches to snow and mountains. One thing remains: the calmness of the water. It was clear for us that this name would describe our universe perfectly.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Maxime: It was totally natural for us to play this genre. We love contrasts, we love mixing powerful sounds, fast riffs with electronic ambiances and catchy choruses. Playing posthardcore allows us to blend all these different elements in a song.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Antoine: Maxime and I met when we were 11 and since then, we’ve always been jamming together. When we decided to form Tahoe we got in touch with Maxime (bass) who we had already met in a previous formation. Pierre (keybord / vocals) was a good friend of his and he knew he would be a good addition to the band. We then met Mickael (Vocals) through a mutual friend he instantly knew he was a fit for us.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Antoine: Hands Like Houses, no contest.
Maxime T: The Dillinger Escape Plan
Shin: Blessthefall
Pierre: Sky eats airplane
Mickael: The Weeknd
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Antoine: We’ve got A TON of inspiration everytime we start a new song it’s sometimes hard to focus on following only one idea.
Maxime: Our own personnal lives, it might be cliché, but it’s true !
6. Where was your last gig?
Maxime: Our last gig was in Paris, le Klub with Polar (UK) and Light Your Anchor (DE). Great vibes despite our different styles !
7. Where would you like to act?
Antoine: We’d love to play everywhere we can! We would definitely like to play in Spain! We’ve heard from other bands that touring there is completely mental. We’d like to tour Europe if we get the chance.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Maxime : Elliot Coleman (ex : Sky eats airplanes and Tesseract) he’s such a great singer. If we’re lucky we”ll get to have him on one of our songs one day.
Antoine : Fanboy instant : Jonny Craig. I’m in love with his voice.
9. Whom not?
Maxime: Tosin Abasi, this guy is so talented, we would look so ridiculous beside him in every instrument. We only his guitar, he sounds like a whole band (ahah).
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Antoine: We’re always a little under pressure just before getting on stage. Neither of us have ever suffered from stage fright but I’m sure everyone feels this stress before playing a venue. It’s completely normal and this usually disappears after the beginning of the set. One tip and one tip only for beginners : practice your instrument and your songs. Again and again until it becomes natural and you can play without thinking ! That’s the only tip I can think of… you might try to imagine the audience naked ! (ahah)
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Maxime: I think it might be Architects. Their old tour and studio videos you can find on youtube are like the funniest thing ever to watch. It gave me the strength and faith to keep on playing music and be part of a band, despite all the dedication and energy it requires. When I had the occasion to see them live in Paris it simply confirmed everything.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Antoine: We’ve never had a strange request as far as I can remember but we can’t wait to get one. We’ll always be ready to please a fan ! ahah
13. What do you think of your fans?
Antoine : They’re the best for sticking with us ! We’ve been very quiet, working on Wonders and our fans just stood with us all this time ! That’s truly incredible.
14. What do you think of our site?
Maxime : It looks sick and really well handled ! It’s very cool to give young (and less young) bands an opportunity to express themselves. Thank you so much for offering us all a place to speak.
15. Something to add?
Antoine : We’ve got many cool things ahead. We can’t wait to share them with everyone ! Maxime : We can’t wait to get on stage again ! Thank you for having us.
