Azgard - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Progressive Deathcore band Azgard from Ukraine, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Yeah.. people often give us a weird looks when they hear our name. I guess they're thinking something like "Azgard? Viking metal? WTF?" when they see it.. but hear deathcore instead. Long story short.. that name is from 2005. Band needed to play it's first show and vocalist came up with it. Guys were playing some kind of Death/Thrash Metal back then and they thought that is was damn cool.. Current band got little no none connection to that, we're not playing songs from that time anymore, we got just 1 guitarist from original band left and we don't ever consider 2005 as our founding year, but we still got the name that remembers us about our roots.. And I personally like it..It's strong and powerful..just like our music ;)
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Haha.. I wouldn't probably play deathcore if I had to start a new band right now. All of the guys in a band are listening to all kinds of different stuff. But I guess that deathcore is what unites us. It's just kind of music that we all love and know how to play well.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
More or less.. we're living in a small city and musicians know each other. Especially those who play heavier stuff.
4. Each band member favorite band?
Frankly.. no idea. None of us can even name a single favorite band right now. Music tastes and stuff that we're listening are changing pretty fast I guess. Our guitarist are going crazy about some electonic artists right now for example xD
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Reality. Our songs aren't about anything abstract. Our songs are about everyday social problems and tragedies that we see.. Nationwide drugs/alcohol problem, family violence, armed conflict in the east of Ukraine and all over the world.. the stuff that's, quite sadly, happening everyday.
6. Where was your last gig?
Meh..nothing fancy. Just a show at our local club
7. Where would you like to act?
Wherever is possible. The biggest the show - the better ;) And we'd love to have a tour in Europe someday!
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Ok..after a little discussion we've decided that it should be Lady Gaga.. I mean c'mon.. song with a solo from Chris Storey is surely great, but everyone would like to listen a deathcore song with Lady Gaga on vocals! ..and that would be damn fresh and progressive too ;)
9. Whom not?
Hmm..noone of whom we can remember I guess
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Stage fright..naaah..I guess no. Any tips.. Practice! Practice hard! And everything is going to be fine ;) ..or get drunk..and mess everything up, but at least you won't probably even remember anything xD
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Each song from the album was written in a different time, while the guys were listening to completely different kind of music. So I guess lots of bands had inspired us. From All Shall Perish and Born of Osiris to The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza and Mikhail Krug. And while we were doing all of the mixing and production I was listening "Humanity's Last Breath" alot. They're mixes are GREAT. I think that they definitely inspired me.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Hmmm..nothing too weird probably..but once we were taken by a carriage to the after-party after a show..the real one. with horses and stuff..just don't ask details. The story alone probably worth the whole article xD
13. What do you think of your fans?
Fans..?? Pfff.. greedy assholes that won't even drop a dollar on our bandcamp to support us! (Except two of you from Ukraine! Thanks guys!). Hehe.. But seriously. We're just joking! THANK YOU GUYS! Thank you everyone who listens to us, especially in Ukraine. Local underground scene is pretty much in a bad shape, and all kinds of your support, even if you're not buying anything, means a lot to us! You're great!
14. What do you think of our site?
PLEEEEASEEEE TURN OFF THAT MUSIC AUTO-PLAY!!!! Otherwise it's a great project! Thanks for your work and keep it up!
15. Something to add?
Yeah!! Guys! Listen do your mom, eat vegetables and don't mix beer and vodka!
