Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Metalcore band Elegy from USA, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

An elegy is poem or musical composition about mourning lost ones and deep self reflection. When we started the band we had no name but we had a bunch of lyrics written. We went through a list of about 20 or so names before we finally settled on Elegy. It just seemed to fit the best with the lyrics. Also we had a deadline to choose one before our first show.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

We all went to the same high school together and all loved the same type of music. There's something about playing the most extreme type of music there is and seeing people react to it. There's nothing like it. I was addicted the first time I heard it.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Yes, except for John our bassist who also went to our high school but we had already graduated by then. But we've all been friends since middle school.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Ben: Man that's a really tough question to narrow it down to one band. Metallica first got me into metal when I was younger. Bands like Lamb of God and Unearth and a bunch more that I could name have been some of my favorites.

Nick: I like CKY

James: Scale The Summit

Steve: The Black Dahlia Murder

Jon: Killswitch Engage

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

My lyrics have always been about struggle. We all come from an area where there's a really big drug problem. I tend to write about things that me, my friends and family, and people I know I have gone through. Things like addiction, loss, depression. Things that I've seen first hand. That mixed with my personal beliefs. I found it easier to talk about through a story about one character. Nick usually writes riffs while taking a dump.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last show was in Providence with For Today, Gideon, Silent Planet and Buried Electric. It was a sick show and every band killed. Lots of beers and bro hangs.

7. Where would you like to act?

We haven't left the east coast as a band yet but we would be willing to pretty much go anywhere. If we ever tour Europe with this band my life will be complete.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Literally any of our friends. Obviously if one of our idols did a guest part in a song it would be amazing. But doing guest parts with your friends is awesome.

9. Whom not?

Anyone who's an egotistical, loudmouth, fake, only in it for the money, molester of the arts, fuckwit/assclown. That's pretty much it.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Ben: I do every single show. This is my first band so I'm still learning how to deal with it but my solution is usually drink some whiskey and pretend you're just at band practice. Eventually you'll start to get used to it. James had stage freight once in 5th grade at a school concert.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

As far as a live performance is concerned bands like Unearth, Slipknot, The Acacia Strain, Defeater, Early Suicide Silence, Every Time I Die, Killswitch Engage, ect. all have amazing stage presence. We like a very active stage with crowd surfing and moshing and all that.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Nothing too crazy. Just sweaty hugs mostly.

13. What do you think of your fans?

If you're a fan of my band thank you so much and I love you.

14. What do you think of our site?

There should be more sites like yours out there. I've read interviews from your site and they're great. This is our first interview as a band and we'd like to thank you for the opportunity. Breathing The Core rules!

15. Something to add?

As of right now we have two singles released off of our debut album "Lost To The Waves" titled Winter Wind and Demoness. Go check them out on our Facebook page or on YouTube. The album is being released very soon so keep an eye out. We're Elegy from Boston, hope to see you at our shows!
