Vera Grace - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Post-Hardcore band Vera Grace from UK, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Our old guitarist Chris, and Aaron, our current bassist, liked the idea of using a persons name for the band, akin to bands like Norma Jean, Gwen Stacy for example.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
It's not really something we planned, it's just what came out when we all put our heads together. It's not something that we planned to do, it's just where we ended up.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Mostly. Jonjo, Steve, and Aaron and were friends beforehand. Josh was introduced to us when we formed, and it worked well from there! Rich was the latest addition, and he replied to an online ad we posted! Turned out pretty well.
4. Each band member favourite band?
We're all into fairly similar stuff really. A few group favourites would be bands like La Dispute, Underoath, Alexisonfire, From Indian Lakes, Devil Sold His Soul...
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Since being in a band, we've enjoyed every minute of it. Being given the opportunity to play songs that we've written in front of people only inspires us to write better music and become better at what we do.
6. Where was your last gig?
We played a hometown show in Witney, Oxfordshire recently for the first time in like 2 years. It was a good night with a lot of good friends.
7. Where would you like to play?
We'd love to play outside the UK. Maybe we'll get a chance to hit the EU soon!
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Assuming that this means who we'd like to go out on the road with, then it'd probably be the guys in Acres. We went out on a small run of dates with them a while, and we'd love to go back on the road with them!
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
I don't think any of have really suffered from stage fright. But maybe a tendency to over think things when we're playing bigger shows. You've just got to learn to chill out and enjoy yourself. If you're not enjoying it, then what's the point?
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
We take influence from many different types of music. Progressive Metal to Post-Rock. Meshuggah to Sigur Ros. We've been compared to bands like Underoath, Devil Sold His Soul, Defeater, etc. We love what these bands do, so it's a great compliment for us to hear.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Not directly asking us, but we once had someone purchase a t-shirt at a gig, and then straight away asked the other band to sign it. We were very confused.
13. What do you think of your fans?
We're very appreciative of anyone that likes our music, so we can't say a bad word about them! Our number one fan has to be our guitarist Jonjo's nan, who opening described our music as "Just noise".
14. What do you think of our site?
The site seems to be a bit of a goldmine for great underground music. It's always nice to see someone who's willing to give these artists the attention they deserve.
15. Something to add?
Thanks to anyone who took the time to read this. We hope you check out our E.P, out August 17th! Pre-orders are available now over at our Big Cartel site. Keep an eye on our Facebook page, where we'll be releasing other tasty things! Hopefully we'll catch you at a gig some time!
