Adventurer - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Post-Hardcore band Adventurer from USA, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Jeff and I thought of it after messing around with a couple names. I think him and our friend had a silly acoustic garage project named Space Adventurer and I suggested using Adventurer as the name.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Jeff and I were in a pop punk band and we weren’t really happy with what we were playing and we also weren’t happy with the state of the band. At that time, we were also getting into more post hardcore music. One of our biggest influences is PMToday, and we ended up both quitting that band to start a new band more influenced by PMToday and other bands of that nature. After Steven joined, we all focused the sound of the band more towards mid 2000’s emo mixed with the current post hardcore that we all love.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
I’ve known Jeff since 7th grade, but we became good friends more towards 11th or 12th grade. We met Steven because I was actually trying out for drums in his band prior to Adventurer. I wasn’t really into what they were about, but I asked Steven to jam with Jeff and I as a side project, and long story short, it became way more than just a side project! Hahah.
4. Each band member favourite band?
Miles: PMToday, Pierce The Veil
Jeff: PMToday or Ugly Colors
Steven: Circa Survive or anything emo
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
I would say our favorite bands and musicians is what got all of us started as musicians. Writing music is such a fun art, and it's so easily sharable nowadays. Personally, I love being a musician because I love returning to the world what my favorite musicians have given to me; Those songs that cheer you up when you’re feeling down, the songs that help you vent your anger just by listening to them, the songs that are easily relatable and help you get through struggles in your life.
6. Where was your last gig?
Our last gig was at Hatchy’s in Utica, MIchigan with Artifex Pereo and our two label mates, Eidola and Stolas, and what a fun fucking show it was.
7. Where would you like to act?
Anywhere on the west coast. But honestly, House of Blues in Chicago would be mega awesome.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
We’d love to do something with our manager, Kurt Travis. There’s so many good vocalists, though, it’s hard to just pick a couple. I know Steven would love to have Anthony Green on a song.
9. Whom not?
Barney The Dinosaur would probably be a really shitty guest feature.
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Honestly, it just takes practice playing in front of an audience. It’s always the bigger crowds that make it a little more intimidating, but my advice would be to just don’t look at the crowd at first if you’re really nervous. I used to stare at strictly my drum set before I got used to playing in front of people all of the time.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
There are so many. I’ll try to mention most of all of our favorites, but I’d say Pierce The Veil, PMToday, Ugly Colors, The Fall of Troy, The Wonder Years, Four Year Strong, Dance Gavin Dance, My Chemical Romance, Taking Back Sunday, Broadways album ‘Kingdoms’, Lower Definitions album ‘The Greatest of All Lost Arts’, Silverstein, Saves The Day, Armor For Sleep, The Devil Wears Prada, Underoath.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
I’ve never understood signing someones arm. It’s going to wash off, like what’s the point?
13. What do you think of your fans?
I adore everyone and anyone that is a fan of what we do. We’re just three people doing something that we love, and the fact that people enjoy what we do and support us...it means the world to me. We write this music for us, but in the long run, I feel like we’re writing it for everyone else more-so than ourselves.
14. What do you think of our site?
It’s just as good looking as all of the fine people running it. I’d take it out on a nice date if I was also a website.
15. Something to add?
Thank you for even wanting to interview us. We have finally begun the final batch of demos for our full length, and we’re finishing up the last songs and going back and reworking some of the ones we were comfortable with a couple months ago. It’s been a process, but it's nice to say that we’ll finally be making some bigger steps with this next album soon. 2015 has had its ups and downs, but 2016 is going to be our year of redemption.
