Bermuda Skies - Interview

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

The idea of the band name came to us about a week after starting the band. Our first band practice we took a pizza break after practicing for several hours and while driving to the pizza place I (Victor the bassist) saw a street name Bermuda, and I suggested we had Bermuda in the name. With that said, we were throwing random names with Bermuda incorporated in them, we finally decided on Lost In Bermuda, but a week later our Synth player Maggie told us the name was taken by another band. So next practice we tossed more names around with the word Bermuda until Andrew our guitarist said how bout Bermuda Skies. We all liked it and stuck with the name.

2. Why did you want to play this genre?

We all wanted to play this genre of music because we all enjoy this type of genre of music and with all our different styles of music we combined them and create our own unique style.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

I (Vic), Xhemoen (drums), Maggie (synth), and Raul (Vocals), knew each other from a previous band we were in but later we all left for personal differences with the other member of the band and decided to start a new band. We later met Brandon (Vocals) through mutual friends Maggie had and two years later we met our other guitarist Andrew through a local bands Facebook page.

4. Each band member favorite band?

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Some of us in the band had friends or family the inspired us to write music and some of us got inspired by simply listening to some of their favorite artist and/or member and wanting to to pick an instrument and start writing music of our own.

6. Where was your last gig?

Our last gig was at The Summit Music Hall in Denver, CO. We got to open for some really talented bands like Upon A Burning Body, Dance Gavin Dance, Within The Ruins. The tour was called The All Stars Tour. We got that gig from winning the head bang for the highway, battle of the bands at the Black Sheep venue in Colorado Springs CO.

7. Where would you like to act?

As a band we would love play pretty much anywhere where people will want to come to enjoy hearing our music but a place where we've always wanted to play is Europe.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

We don´t know.

9. Whom not?

As a local band we would really love to be featured with anybody really that's in our genre of music anything that would get our music more out there for people the better.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

All of us have suffered from stage fright. We remembered our first show was packed for a local show and once we were up there most of us were really shaky but after playing the first song, we were fine to play the rest of the set. For beginners we recommend stay hydrated the whole show, eat bananas for potassium so you wont freeze up and after you play the first song of the set you'll feel fine after that and always have water on stage you'll get dehydrated up there.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Having seven people in the band, a lot of bands have inspired us. But i have to say for most inspiration id have to say it would be The Devil Wears Prada, We get a lot of our musical style from them and also that we have a synth player a lot of people say we remind them of The Devil Wears Prada.

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Well for the males of the band nothing strange has really been asked of use, usually just our autograph which is cool. But as for Maggie after our set in the All Stars Show she got asked from a girl if she could have sex with her. That's what he at least told us after the show haha.

13. What do you think of your fans?

We think anybody that supports us is awesome and we truly appreciate any support we get, we like to attract many people of different genres as well.

14. What do you think of our site?

I think your site is awesome and very supportive of a lot of bands who need recognition because there's many talented bands out there and you guys are supporting the cause, so i think that kicks ass.

We're a 7 piece metal band from the Colorado Springs, CO check out our two singles on YouTube. We are currently working on writing a full album hopefully in the next couple months called shipwrecked. New stuff is on the way!
