Earl Grey - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Pop Punk/Hardcore band Earl Grey from Germany, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
Tristan: While recording our first EP in December 2014 I drank a lot of tea so at one point someone came up with the idea of calling the band EARL GREY.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
Pedro: We all listened to Punk, Hardcore and Pop Punk growing up and we are still in love with these genres. So now we are in a band playing the music we love the most.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Pedro: I was helping out some friends at a show in May 2013 and met most of the guys there because their old band 'Fountains' was playing the show as well. In the following year we met again at another show and we already knew each other. In Fall 2014 Lukas asked me if I wanted to sing in their new band after Fountains broke up. I agreed and now we are here.
Benny: I started playing drums in March 2015 because Yannick, their old drummer quit the band then. Now we're here haha!
4. Each band member favourite band?
Our favorite bands are:
Benny: More Than Life
Moritz: Fugazi
Pedro: Trash Talk
Tristan: Nirvana
Lukas: Turnover
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Moritz: I'm trying to process my personal feelings in the songs. I', also trying to create something that is Pop Punk and hardcore at the same time. It is a great feeling to put out music that a lot of people with the same problems or experiences can listen and relate to. And of course the music of other bands.
Lukas: When it comes to writing lyrics I take my inspiration from situations that I think are worth writing about. Mostly it's stuff that I think about when I lay in bed. Pedro also gives me some input so everything is working out fine.
6. Where was your last gig?
Tristan: Our last gig was in Bonn at a venue called BLA.
7. Where would you like to act?
Benny: We really would like to play in a lot of different countries. It'd be great to see how people all over the world experience live music and shows.
Pedro: Visiting Australia and the US was always a dream of mine.
Moritz: Playing our songs for people and traveling the world would be beyond our wildest dreams. So come on! Book us! (starts laughing)
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Benny: There are a lot of great dudes we would love to feature with.
Pedro: John Floreani from Trophy Eyes for example. We met these guys earlier this year - they're awesome.
9. Whom not?
Lukas: Kanye West
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
Pedro: EARL GREY is my first band and I never played music in front of a crowd. Every time we play I am nervous and have to pee a couple of times before we start. But when I'm on stage it all comes together I get calm when we start playing. Trust me it's all okay. It's all in your head and after every show I don't understand why I was so nervous.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Moritz: Oh that's hard to answer. I think bands like The Story So Far, Trophy Eyes, Verse and of course blink-182. But I bet there are a lot more than I can think of at the moment. After all I'm always trying to find a sound that is new and different - but of course there are influences that somehow give us a direction
Pedro: For me it would be Trash Talk, Trophy Eyes, Henry Fonda. I can't narrow it down on one band and even the four bands are not nearly everything.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
Moritz: Which fans?
13. What do you think of your fans?
Benny: We love every single one of them. Everyone who listens to our songs and supported us so far. Pedro: You guys are awesome!
14. What do you think of our site?
Pedro: I checked out your page for the first time and I think it's awesome! Thank you so much for our first Interview we really appreciate what you guys do!
15. Something to add?
Moritz: Milk. Haha!
