Eidola - Interview
Hey, Breathing The Core fans, here we bring you another interview of the Post-Hardcore band Eidola from USA, so here you can see and give a like to his FACEBOOK PAGE. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!
1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?
We talked about it for a long time before deciding on Eidola. The word is the plural form of eidolon meaning an ideal or a phantom. It definitely encapsulated the message we wanted to convey as a group.
2.Why did you want to play this genre?
I don't think we ever sat down and said "hey, we want to play Post-Hardcore, let's do that." We all have very different tastes and if you listen to either of our releases you can tell there are a lot of other influences outside the realm of hard-core incorporated into our sound. We all love the genre, but we try to bend and yaw outside of that a good bit too.
3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?
Yeah, 4/5 of us went to high school together and found Matt through playing a lot locally. Matt Dommer and I didn't particularly like each other in high school hahaha but we reconnected a couple years later and gelled really well since.
4. Each band member favourite band?
It changes all the time for all of us. We all love Circa Survive, Thrice, Animals As Leaders, and a bunch of other solid bands. Picking a favorite for any of us is not an easy task.
5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?
Everyone and everything. Humanity and its history.
6. Where was your last gig?
We played Hatchy's in Detroit last night with our friends Adventurer. It was tight.
7. Where would you like to act?
On Broadway, baby.
8. Whom would you like to feature with?
Dance Gavin Dance or Circa Survive.
9. Whom not?
Creed...?
10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?
I think James and Matt did early on when we first started out, but they got over it pretty quick. The best way to beat that is to listen to Shia and just do it. Play out a lot. If you play music for honest reasons then you're more than likely playing it for yourself, not the approval of other people.
11. What bands have inspired you the most?
Circa, Dredg, Tool, Thrice, Portugal. The Man, and recently Artifex Pereo.
12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?
"will you sign this shoe I found?"
13. What do you think of your fans?
I love our fans! They are what keep us going as a band and I fucking love them.
14. What do you think of our site?
I think it's solid. I appreciate the interview.
15. Something to add?
If you're reading this and haven't picked up our new album Degeneraterra, I would highly recommend it.eidolamusic.bandcamp.com
