Tombs Of Kaliche - Interview

11-19

In this new occasion we have the great opportunity to interview the Deathcore/Grindcore band Tombs Of Kaliche from USA, here we will let you their FACEBOOK PAGE to give them a like and follow them. We have nothing more to say, so enjoy this interview!

1.Where did you get the idea for the band name, you planned it or came out just like that?

D: Caliche (ka-leach-ee) is a type of mineral found here in Arizona and other dry climates. The word had a cool ring to it, and I knew it would be a good band name someday. Zion came up with “Tombs of” and we changed the spelling to Kaliche.

2.Why did you want to play this genre?

Z: Before I met Dayton, I wasn’t into anything heavier than metalcore. I had a few riffs that would later turn into our first songs, and we started jamming on them. I never pictured they would become what they have, but everything clicked like it was meant to be. Its brutal and nasty and I love it.

D: I’ve always wanted to play death type metal; blast beats and heavy shit. I can’t explain why, but it draws my attention.

R: It makes my dick hard.

3. Did you know each other before the band was formed?

Z: No. We all met from Cragslist actually.

D: I had seen Ryan in his previous band “Light Her Up” but I didn’t know him personally.

4. Each band member favourite band?

Z: I don’t really have a “favorite” band; but if I had to choose, it would be Led Zeppelin.

D: I don’t have one. There’s too many.

R: That’s a tough one…

5. Who or what inspires you to write songs?

Z: Music is second nature, it’s something I have to do.

D: Everything and anything I listen to inspires me. From classic rock to metal to jazz flute, etc.

R: God.

6. Where was your last gig?

Dreddfest at Tempe Tavern in Tempe, AZ.

7. Where would you like to act?

Z: I’m definitely itching to play of state. I’d love to hit California this year.

D: On a European festival.

R: California for sure.

8. Whom would you like to feature with?

Z: Taylor Swift. Or Within the Ruins.

D: It wouldn’t really matter; I want to play a big summer event like Warped Tour, Summer Slaughter, something with a lot of different bands.

9. Whom not?

D: ICP, Aerosmith, and Kayne West.

10. Any of you has ever suffered from stage fright? Any tip for beginners on how to beat that?

Z: I’ve never really had stage fright. I get a little anxious right before we play a show at a new venue, because I’m usually way more buzzed than I should be. My advice is to “fake it until you become it”. Project confidence, even if you have to pretend.

D: No, but I’ve always been excited to play. Maybe my first two shows, but not anymore. That’s for pussys.

R: Smoke a lot of weed.

11. What bands have inspired you the most?

Z: I draw inspiration from everything I hear, from deathgrind to pop music. My core influences include Metallica, Tool, Mastadon, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

D: Slipknot.

R: There’s a lot of bands…

12. What's the weirdest thing a fan has ever asked you for?

Z: I can’t really think of anything weird a fan has asked me.

D: A few people have asked me, “Do you give drum lessons?”

R: A girl asked me to sign her hat.

13. What do you think of your fans?

Our fans are fucking awesome. We definitely bring out the moshers and the hardcore dancers. Nothing feels better than to look up while playing and see people going nuts in the pit. We never would have thought so many people would be as receptive as they have.

14. What do you think of our site?

Z: Its great! I created our bandcamp about a month ago, and soon after Breathing the Core shared us on their facebook page. We’re an unsigned local band, and for someone to take the time out of their day to discover and share our music truly means a lot.

15. Something to add?

A big thank you to all of our fans. Anyone that supports their local scene is a true music lover. Be sure to check out our new single “The Punishing” at tombsofkaliche.bandcamp.com. And to anyone who has been to one of our shows, bought our merch, or liked or Facebook page, THANK YOU!
